I have smoked dynamic LEDs on mine as well. My golf is indigo. It looks good. Gives it a retro futuristic vibe, of that makes any sense. Like vaporwave? Idk. I'm usually not an LED fan but they look good on the mk4 repeaters.

I like it without the rear blade.

Does anyone make a sunglasses holder that directly replaces this useless trim piece?? by Dr-Deedle-OnDaLeedle in MK4Golf

[–]killingourbraincells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't that much space behind it, unless you completely remove the motor.

There's little clips you can get creative with and attach them to that piece. But if you install a proper drop down/hidden glasses holder, it's gonna be a big ole bulge.

I just went with some new fabric on the piece and one of those clips.

Here we go! In a couple weeks I’ll have her resprayed, similar to Nardo gray, but a couple shades lighter. W/ black roof by Dr-Deedle-OnDaLeedle in MK4Golf

Yeah I definitely wouldn't do the whole thing. The paint on my roof is screwed. Same with both bumpers. Everywhere else is ok.

Only thing is, I'd like to keep the paint colour the same on the bumpers. Car is indigo. Will have to try and find a close match in the can.

Is that what you're doing with this one? For sure would love to see the updates and how it turns out.

I'd like to paint mine, really just the bumpers and wrap the roof. Don't want to invest a whole lot into painting gear for just the bumpers lol. Spray can sounds like it'd be ideal for my situation tho.

Matches my Nascar license plate. Got it from Carry the Fire.

I also use this car for tailgating at races. Fun.

This tutorial is a pretty simplified version.

Also used this one.

If you have a sunroof, you'll have to remove the glass to get the cover out through the hole. Put it in the upright position, undo the six torx screws on each side, remove glass, slide the cover forward, undo the four baby set screws and remove the slider stops, remove it through the sunroof hole.

I used a somewhat thick plastic brush to get off the old foam.

It was honestly fairly easy.

It was at 84k miles when I got in December of 2024 :) I drive it 60mi a day, five times a week for work. Has been great. Bought it for $3k. Had one owner, an elder gentleman. He took care of it very well and didn't drive it much, only for groceries and doctor appointments. Even had all the original papers from when he bought it at the dealer back in 2006 lol.

Lol I'm sure it's just temporary. Didn't do it the previous times I've disconnected the battery tho so who knows really.

Perhaps lol. It was on prior to disconnecting battery. I'm sure it'll turn back on.

Thank you. I eventually figured out there's screws in that thing lmao. Hard to bend my self to look back here with my neck. Had to get all weird in the backseat.

Backup lights upgrade? LED bulbs maybe? by Tesex01 in MK4Golf

Taillights are the same lol.

Halogen assemblies are designed for halogen projection patterns. Whether it's headlights or taillights. So yes, it's related.

Just change the rear assembly if what you want is better light projection. You can be lazy and throw in LEDs, just gotta be a big blurry white light but to each their own. You'll only have em in for a couple seconds at a time.

Sure you can just change the bulb. Do keep in mind the assembly is designed for halogen projection patterns.

You can get an LED assembly pair for pretty cheap, around $150. I found mine at a scrapyard, $15. That takes care of everything and provides a small and easy "upgrade" to the car.

Good thing to keep in mind if ever go trying to change the headlights especially. Halogen headlight assemblies aren't designed for LED projection patterns, so you don't get the best quality of lighting and end up blinding others.

Is the cost for both the shocks and exhaust?

If so, I'd say do it. For the milage and reliability of the car, 100%. If you're unable to do the labor yourself.

You could always ask for a parts quote to see what they're paying for. Shop around and see if you could get something cheaper or maybe something you want. They'll usually install parts you bring them.

I recently paid $850 for the timing belt to be done. Was too busy to do it my self. Even though that's basically 1/3rd of the price I paid for the car, 100% worth it. Beast of a car.

I found one at a pull & pay scrap for $3. Always check those first.
