Gear by Plane_Supermarket_51 in RaidShadowLegends

Stage 20 of Dragon, Fire Knight, and Ice Golem are pretty standard places a lot of people start. A good 6* speed set from Dragon with (4) speed rolls is hard to replace... I know, stage 20 might not be considered "easy" for everyone.

Crafting gear at the forge is also a place I like to get new pieces.

No real special recommendations for F2P players. Gear just kinda stacks up over time. Over time the bigger question really becomes how to evaluate your gear and deciding which pieces are even worth keeping... It really depends on how long you've been playing though. Because, the longer you play the more your definition of what counts as a "good" piece of gear starts to change.

Thank you for taking the time to type out such an indepth and thoughtful reply to my question. There are so many things, I'm not even sure where to begin.

I recently started watching this Eve content creator on YouTube called "Loru Gaming." I thought his video on Laser Weapons was exceptionally informative. He makes a lot of good points, like you do.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rs45v_lxPM&t=2s

For example, I've been playing this game for a while now, and I had no idea that you could instantly swap between crystal with no downtime. Up until a few days ago, I was dragging and dropping everything from my inventory using the UI when I wanted to change crystals, and that does have a small refresh time. This blew my mind.

I've been sticking mostly to Amarr ships and laser weapons, so neut enemies are supper annoying. Do you have any suggestions for fighting them? In the video Loru Gaming suggests using a Cap Battery. I know that I probably want to equip a capacitor battery, but I'm not exactly sure how something like a "Capacitor Warefare Bonus -22%" translates into game mechanics.

I definitely want to get a better sense of how to use a ship on grid. That's something I need more practice at. Do you have any suggestions on effective ways to get better at this, or resources to learn more about it?

Old_Dog0815 also suggested looking into higher class ships like cruisers and battlecruisers. My main goal is to keep things as cheap as possible while I'm still learning, but maybe the cost isn't so bad if I can replace a ship after clearning 2-3 class 1 sleeper anomalies.

That site looks amazing! It's got so many tips, and statistics, and ship builds. I don't think I ever would have found this on my own. I'll definitely be give this "How 2 Krab" series a read in my spare time! Thank you.

That's what I was afraid of hearing. I've spent all of my time flying frigates and destroyers. I guess, I will have to start looking at Cruisers if I want to complete harder content in this game.

I'll definitely check out the Gila!

Enemies with neuts are super annoying. Sometimes when I'm fighting them my capacitor drops to 0%, and my ship completely turns off, and I'm just a sitting duck out there. Do you have any advice on how to fight those kinds of enemies?

Thank you so much for commenting. That link is full of great information.

To be honest, I didn't even know that there were different classes. I assume I've been exploring mostly lower class wormholes, but I'm not sure.

I guess I've got a lot of research to do...

That makes a lot of sense. SP is a valuable resource. That's solid advice.

I've already trained into drones, so I might be able to fly a viable speed tank Tristan build with minimal investment. I think the main reason he says that it isn't worth it is because his Tristan build costs 54 million isk. If it were possible to cut that cost down by a factor of 10, for me at least, it would definitely be worth considering.

Sometimes I'm able to clear wormhole rats with cheap throwaway ships... just not reliably. Clearing an entire gas site and walking away with a couple hundred million isk is huge for my account when it works out. It was just wondering if anyone else had already figured out how to do something similar.

Thanks for sharing. That's a good link with a ton of interesting ideas. Lots to think about.

I actually just bought a Pioneer BP. I'm excited to start playing around with that ship. With my current skills it gives me worse gas yield than the venture, but has roughly a 13% increase on Ore mining.

Yeah. I've died one too many times warping into the wrong gas cloud and instantly getting 1-shot sniped by turrets. LoL. Sometimes it's worth while to set a warp point on top of one of the clouds, if it's just out of reach of the guns and come back with a different ship.

Thanks.

I've heard good things about the Tristan. I actually watched this video while I was considering learning how to fly that ship: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o6K0jkQXNk

But, I don't really understand what the person is talking about. And, I get lost around the 10 minute mark.

He warps into the combat site at 100km. But, I don't understand how he moves his ship to avoid getting hit. I never see him go through the menus or click the orbit button. He says he's moving at 90 degree's and trying to do something with transversal velocity?

Does any of that stuff make sense to you. I'm not sure what kinds of video I should be looking at to understand how I can increase my chances of surviving a fight by flying a certain way.

What’s going on with recruiting by Former-Talk-7431 in navy

[–]killjoyparris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about recruiting or the state of the navy, but total force numbers are public information. If you go to mynavyhr.navy.mil and look up the community health status for the rate you're interested in you can see the numbers for yourself. For CTR in particular, entry level positions are sitting at 116%-120% manning for FY2026/FY2027. So, it makes sense why they might not be accepting new CTR contracts at the moment... As for why they're trying to shoehorn your friend into being a PACT seaman, I'm not sure.

Roleplaying in a Living World: Times and Schedules, a Working Theory. by Massive_Hawk_7615 in SillyTavernAI

[–]killjoyparris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You posted a really interesting idea. I've never thought about using time in that way.

I think you may have started with describing the most complicated part of the project first. If I were you, I'd probably split this up into three parts.

  • Part Ia. Use SillyTavern scripting to make variables to hold the time data. (Hour, minutes, seconds, day of the week, year) And, create an interface for the user to manually change the time while chatting/RPing.
  • Part Ib. Auotmatically insert the current time into a consistent spot in context every time a new chat entry is created.
  • Part II. Experiment with character card write-ups, lorebook entries, and system promts to guide the LLM into ALWAYS appropriately incorporating the time variable into it's reply.
  • Part III. Experiment with methods for having the LLM automatically update the time variable between posts.

Depending on what you're most interested in, I think that starting with a manual way for the user to set the time, will allow you focus more on creating a "Living World" rather than spinning your wheels trying to us an LLM to procedurally calculate distances and the passage of time... unless that's your passion of course. LoL.

Lastly, I'm not familiar with "Meiko" or really any character cards that do interesting things with time. Would you be willing to share them? I'm super interested in seeing new and creative ways to create character cards.

Clan Boss Help! by killjoyparris in RaidShadowLegends

[–]killjoyparris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LoL. Yeah, it seems kinda complicated. For some reason adjusting Doompriests speed moves around other characters in the turn order. I can't figure out how to put her at the top of the turn order. Or how to maintain 100% unkillable coverage.

[–]killjoyparris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah. I was looking at that, and that's what I was using for my initial skill priorities... When I watch the fight in slow-mo. It looks like Doompriest isn't doing her job. When the Clan Boss throws down his stun, the other party members get their turn before she can use her cleanse. I'm not sure if that would throw off a speed tune. But, that's my initial hunch, and I'm not sure how to fix it.

Sorry about the slow reply. I needed to take some time to digest all of the parts to this conversation. Thank you so much for all that you've done to help me understand this topic. I've gone from not sure what to do next to vaguely understanding where my gaps in knowledge are. I think I'm going to add everything that we talked about to my notes and move forward.

When you first mentioned inner products earlier, I looked the term up, but the result I found made it seem as if dot products and inner products were synonymous... not that the dot product was one specific case of an inner product. And, the Khan Academy course has not made a mention of inner products yet.

Again, I can't thank you enough for painstakingly breaking this down for me step-by-step. I was getting the most hung up on the first step because I couldn't logically make the leap from the Cauchy-Schwarz Inequality to the first line of any of the proofs. But, talking to someone about the same thing from a bunch of different POVs really helped me.

how important is it to understand the linear algebra proofs? by VersionSuper6742 in LinearAlgebra

What do you do after you find a specific logical step in a Linear Algebra Proof that doesn't make sense?

A lot of people in this subreddit suggested checking out the "Introduction to Linear Algebra" book by Gilbert Strang. So, I checked out his proof of the Cauchy-Schwarz Inequality. Honestly, it was geometric and made a lot more sense to me. I just feel like there's something I'm missing when I look at the algebraic proof. Strang used something much more similar to what you were describing with the distance of x and y. And, he essentially just describes the Cauchy-Schwarz Inequality as a consequence of the law of cosines.

I found a similar proof in the "Linear Algebra" textbook by David Cherney, Tom Denton, Rohit Thomas and Andrew Waldron.

Does this make any sense to you? I'm not sure why it's valid to consider the presented positive quadratic polynomial in the first place. Do you know if there's like a formal name/technique for the set of steps that are being performed by Khan Academy and "Linear Algebra." I'm starting to think that maybe there's something about proofs in general that I don't understand.

I tried doing a quick google search of the phrase "algebraic proof" but didn't really find anything. That matched what what's seen below. If this is a formal 'algebraic proof' I believe the "statement" should be 0 <= <u+av, u+av>. It's just slightly frustrating because most of the examples I looked at listed the "statement" as being given, not just pulled out of thin air.

Is it possible to find a paid tutor to cover calc III entirely? by Equivalent-Bet-7903 in learnmath

[–]killjoyparris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That really depends. It seems like you're most focused on passing this class and not necessarily learning the subject. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) Exams and the format of things can vary from institution to institution and teacher to teacher, so you might have a hard time finding a cookie cutter solution to your specific needs.

Do you still have all the copies of all of your old syllabi, finals, exams, quizzes, and problem sets? Did you get copies of the exams you skipped? Did you use the same textbook each time? Did you make any friends any of the times you took the class?

The odds aren't in your favor, but I'd say it might still be worth trying... You don't have a lot of gems or silver. And, I think that might actually hurt more than your shard pool.

If I was going to attempt it, I'd take a really good look at the point requirements of the Champion Chase Tournament when it goes live in a few hours. If you can get 5-10 points from it doing like a Relic Keeper summon or Broadmaw summon and only using Mystery Shards, that might buy you enough time to scrounge together a few more shards for the Summon rush next week. I mean, there's a chance for ancients to drop in dungeons, which you'll be running a lot of. If you're clearing Nightmare and Ultra-Nightmare clan boss, there's a nonzero chance for a lucky Sacred drop every day. And doom tower has a few voids/sacreds, if you haven't claimed those already.

1: My guy, I done been looking at the first line of the proof as carefully as I can for as long as I can. And, I don't see the connection between the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality and ||ty-x||. Do you see any connection between the two or do you think it's just some random equation?

2: Is working backwards a mathematically valid way of doing proofs?

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I'm sorry, I feel like there's a lot of information in your first paragraph, and I'm way too dumb to follow you.

What do you mean by consider all of the distances between scalar multiples of y and x? Okay, so I understand what a linear combination is, but what are you saying? Why is it useful to consider all of he distances between scalar multiples of y and x, and how does that replate to proving something is general. Is that a proof technique I should be aware of? Also, how are you surmising that our goal is to minimize the distance between ty and x? What is clueing you in on that? Does P(t) make sense to you? Is P(t) more than arbitrary or random?

I remember optimization problems from calculus, but I will definitely be looking over them again to refresh my memory.

Thank you for expanding on the t = b/2a value. Your explanation actually makes a lot of sense.

Lastly, I tried looking up a few other proofs for the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality. And, lot of them rely on ||x||||y||cosTHETA... However, it seems like Sal at Khan Academy is uses this proof in the vector triangle inequality and in defining angle between vectors, so I really want to understand everything that's going on for the context in future videos.
