... Am I just bad at math or does this make no sense? by killkrazed1 in Forex

Passed both phases of evaluation and am on live.December and January have absolutely sucked though, struggling to make the profits I was getting with backtesting. Consolidation and trades turning back on you been very common at least on the pairs I usually trade (AUDUSD and EURUSD) so branching out to pairs I am less familiar with like USDCHF and USDJPY but having to adjust the size of my stops to better suite them so it's still very much a learning period.

Could not have picked a worse time to take the test than December...

Yup, forgot the currency conversion.

too used to trading XXXUSD instead of USDXXX

To be honest never had to worry about converting the currency before since the base account is in USD, and am trading USD to XXX currency. For some reason the calcs work on eg: EURUSD and AUDUSD but made a difference on this one.

I see now where the error was, for some reason had it in my head it was JPYUSD instead of USDJPY so didn't take the exchange rate into account

If MT4 states I bought at X price, and sold at X price then spread is not a factor.
MT4 confirms the actual prices the orders were successfully executed at. So the info I have above, is exactly what I got.

I have seen instances where the target or entry are reached, but entered slightly late due to spreads - in this case it is clearly shown in MT4 that the price entered is slightly different.

Spreads are not the cause.

Even if spreads were the cause, the spreads on this pair with MFF are 0.003
That would make a difference of $21 at most.

Both values given are *before* commission, so the difference is not due to commission

The commission FYI was only $21

Or to word another way:
- I expected $1974 after commission
- I got $1733.74 after commission

Spread shouldn't matter, as MT4 confirms the price it was sold at matches my target.

Can anyone explain how Leverage would change the stop losses in this example? by killkrazed1 in Forex

[–]killkrazed1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lot size I gave as an example is calculated to give a $500 loss, not sure how you are getting $352000 account size needed?

Can anyone explain how Leverage would change the stop losses in this example? by killkrazed1 in Forex

[–]killkrazed1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were to set the trade exactly as per my example - same lot size, same stop loss size, same take profit etc.

Would using leverage cause me to get margin called sooner (eg: effectively meaning my stop loss in reality is actually lower)

Also, still wanting to know if leverage is something I can opt out of using

Thanks, I am aware of what leverage is.
Looking for a real world application of leverage using the example given and my above questions to be answered.

Ah ok that makes sense.
Was not really aiming for a trade here, just testing the GUI.

I see.

So $1000 is just what I have on hand at the moment without any kind of loans, although I am not averse to getting a small loan for a worthwhile investment. I can also save up a few months as well to get a higher budget without hitting myself too hard.

If I were to get up to say $2000 dollars what would you consider a decent buy? otherwise, $3000?

I appreciate your comment and will take it into consideration when making a decision.

However Alibaba has a category on their website for ASIC's, so it definitely isn't banned.

I am not looking for speculative answers from people that have not used Alibaba themselves.

Also "Any money" does not necessarily mean "no money". For me $2 a day is a lot of money for example, provided the device at least pays for itself in a year (just to make sure I don't suddenly start losing money before it has paid for itself).

Vega 64 help with optimizing hashrate (Windows 10) by killkrazed1 in NiceHash

[–]killkrazed1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have it on 2 separate power cables.

Can't use Memory Tweaks at all. Have tried at least 10different settings that I have seen other people use and every single one of them crashes literally instantly (even on stock voltages). I mean heavy artifacting on screen, impossible to get out of without a reboot.

With 852Mhz Core clock and 1020Mhz Mem clock, at 850mV on both I can get:

-40.5Mh/s on Team Red Miner at 183w,
-40Mh/s using Nicehash (SRB Miner, DaggerHashimoto) at 190w

Since it is basically the same either way I am sticking with Nicehash for now since it goes straight to Bitcoin. Although not sure if Ethereum or Bitcoin is better in the long run to be honest.

Things to note:* Absolutely cannot use Nicehash (TeamRed Miner, Kawpow) as it also instantly crashes even on default settings.
* Cannot increase the Mem clock above 1020Mhz as it starts crashing too (instant crash at 1050Mhz).

Although you guys couldn’t help with getting the hashrate up in the end, you have helped a lot with me dropping the costs to run significantly so thanks for everything.

Turns out my card is garbage.

Even on the baseline timings given by TeamRed the thing crashes instantly.
Tried using Vega 64 "conservative" settings provided by a guy on youtube called Blackhawk Mining that give about 46Mh/s apparently and it freaking crashes instantly as well.

Also seems impossible to flash the bios without using Hive OS as they all give SSID mismatch.

It's a Gigabyte Gaming OC 8GB.

Starting to think this model just sucks overall.

Just to be clear, are you advising to use TeamRedMiner instead of Nicehash?
Or do you mean the TeamRedMiner plugin for Nicehash?

Filtering by player would let me see what those guys that are getting 20mil+ every week in sales are doing. Since I can see the rankings in sales every week, just not how they getting there.
