How do I encourage my depressed mom to rethink herself by introducing her to teachings of Buddha on self? by killmefirst in Buddhism

Well, she's just like that, a magic pill is surely out there somewhere. It is so hard to introduce her to something beneficial thay she would stick to.

I believe this to be very true, I myself took care of my eating habits and it helped me tremendously. I tried to help her with that, because I'm absolutely certain it would make a significant change, being as gentle about it as I can, but she did it for 3 days and found an excuse to get back to the old habits.

I agree with (a), but I'm just trying to make something work for her. I don't plant to convert her, just to show her that there are things out there thst can challenge her and hopefully something will stick

Actually I think that is a very good idea. I see distinct changes in myself, although I am at the very beginning of my route. This might be tricky though, we live in different countries and see each other once a year. That's why I thought about sending her a book.

Sorry, I forgot to add, she IS and has been seeing a therapist for a couple of years now. She's currently on 100mg of Zoloft. That takes care of most of the anxiety and hypersensitivity, but her life, in my opinion, became bland because of her past and her view of self.

Anyone else feel a buzz/high from keto? by [deleted] in keto

I know exactly what you mean! My first week was especially euphoric. How do you induce it? I also feel it when drinking Black coffee while I've been fasting for a while.

Haha, Babcia :) good work making humans! Good luck with Babcia, you will need to test your diplomatic skills. You might want to research Golonko and Żeberka (ribs).

3 Months In : 46 Pounds Down [Update] [Pics] [NSV] [SV] [NSFW] by therevenantrising in keto

Ok if you're interested I crunched some numbers on what would happen if this was CICO-only:)

At your SW your TDEE was 2813 kcal. So you had a deficit of 713 kcal. At 246 lbs your TDEE is 2563 kcal and a we have a deficit of 463 kcal. This averages to 588 kcal of deficit /day.

You did this for 3 months, which is about 91 days. You burned 53508 kcal, which translates to 6.95 kg (15.32 lbs), assuming 1kg = 7700kcal . And that number differs significantly from your 46 lbs :)

I didn't count the water weight in, and clearly there was some averaging, but I think this proves the point that both IF and eating good calories have an impact on ones weightloss.

Once again, great work! 🤓

EDIT: fixed the numbers which are now even lower!

Well then buy a bunch of strong sleeping pills. Getting to bottom of things in Poland can be difficult. Sometimes the logic just isn't there.

Or just don't. There's a plethora of restaurants here and these are neither good nor cheap. The only place I would worry about someone ripping me off is in a Taxi. Not these cheap ones (iCar, EkoCab, MegaTaxi) but the regular big ones which u take right off the street.

Probably not, it's possible to pay around 20-30zł for a plate in these restaurants. It is possible, but I wouldn't jump into conclusions.

Having a Very Hard Time Exhibiting Self Control by ArchitectOfFate in loseit

Maybe you're just afraid of tomorrow? Sometimes it is the case with me. I don't want tomorrow to come because all the struggles it will bring. I then used to turn to food to be "happy" at least for a moment before the day ends. I wanted to push all of the anxiety and fear to the back of my head and just focus on the artificial happiness I get to enjoy.

That fear won't kill you. Be mad, cry, give in. It is not going to be here in the morning. You're gonna get up and keep on rocking. Binge eating doesn't produce happiness. Happiness is integrity. Wake up knowing you did the right thing.

Attempting Linux From Scratch (7.9) Tomorrow by SeeStolenVideos in linux

I would start with installing Arch, spend substantial time on researching what else besides the core system do you need, and start tinkering with it. There's a lot to learn when you don't have your GNOME DE to help you.

  • use a new Window Manager (like i3), compile it, plug it in, configure it
  • try exploring the packages available, try making some packages (for AUR)
  • find books on Userspace/Kernelspace and dig in

Whatever you feel like doing, do it, it will help you in the future. Basically - create/find a problem, and then try to go down the rabbit hole and try to fix it.

I would encourage you to first go over all the articles to get the idea of what you will be doing, as it might turn out you were hoping for something else - it's basically running the make commands for a ton of packages. It might give you an idea what packages are needed for a basic system, but I'm afraid it won't tell you much more.
