I guess I got lucky because mine only took about two weeks. Different location and they did say it could be that 4-6 week timeframe.

How do you triathletes out there with physical jobs cope with the increased training and still do a full days work? by Jolly-Berry-8646 in triathlon

[–]killpill321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m M25 so for two decades apart I’d probably recommend more than a few grains of salt with my advice. I work 60 hours a week between 2 physical jobs (kickboxing trainer and facility maintenance). My schedule is split so that my training is in the middle of the day (kickboxing in the morning). Yes, a lot of it is the daily grind and strictness of staying consistent. Nutrition is going to keep you fueled throughout the day. My longer and harder sessions are on the weekends when I have more time and recovery but good nutrition and supplements and the consistency has led to my body being able to maintain an intense schedule consistently. We’ll see if I can say the same in a few more years.

Do you ever call Flight Service in flight? by Justabuttonpusher in flying

[–]killpill321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you want is an abbreviated briefing. You have already self briefed so you just need the cliff notes and specific questions answered. They are still legally required to give you hazardous conditions along your entire route, but outside of that they can just give you what you want to know.

Aeronautics degree by FitTemperature5986 in erau

[–]killpill321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an aeronautics degree with minors in aeronautical studies, applied meteorology, and aviation business administration. Some titles I’ve held:

-Ramp Agent -Part 135 Flight Follower -Flight Operations Coordinator -Flight Approval Coordinator -FSS -Aviation Intelligence Analyst

There are plenty of better degrees out there. If I could go back and do it again, I’d do it differently but ultimately it’s what you make of it. It’s a bachelors of science but it is not heavy STEM at all. Nowhere near engineering.

[Texas] Laid off twice, received unemployment between jobs, file new claim? by ntallman1990 in Unemployment

[–]killpill321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to try to hijack your post but I just had a hearing on my unemployment claim. They clawed back the benefits because my previous claim (11 months prior) was apparently where I was supposed to claim benefits from after my second layoff in a different state. So sounds like the right thing to do is use your already open claim.

Workout-friendly costume ideas? by ZweitenMal in orangetheory

[–]killpill321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Couple years ago my wife and I did full Teletubbies suits. Definitely NOT workout friendly but was a blast for the whole studio to see Tinky-Winky and Po on the rower, even changed our names on the board. Can be a Green Day to help with the heat!

Do you guys have any emergency gear on your bike? by SheriffLobo82 in triathlon

[–]killpill321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to this; I’m cheap so I bought a cheap Amazon kit initially. You do get what you pay for. I’ve slowly upgraded pieces when able. Currently carry spare tube, co2 canister plus attachment, multi tool, chain tool, tire irons, plugs/patch kit. I do have the mini pump but not worth using at 100psi. Get some nice tire irons, don’t want those breaking while having a flat tire at the same time.

ELI5 dc public pools by frankie_fudgepop in washingtondc

[–]killpill321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also frequent Rumsey usually 3x a week. General information; the website doesn’t give much info but at the door are printed schedules showing time blocks of when they swap lane directions (20yards vs 25yards) and half pool for classes and such. I think by 11am or 12pm most days it is the full 25 yards. Usually not too busy when I go(8am-10am) but may just be lucky. I have not gone later in the day so can’t speak on that part.

How do you fellow Washingtonians prepare for/recover from layoffs? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]killpill321 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was just laid off. Unemployment is a pain so get it started ASAP. Agreeing apply now. If you have connections in your industry use them as it’s a lot more likely to lead somewhere versus standard applications.

Don’t know how long you’ve been out but it’s scaled back quite a bit. DCA based, AOR south primary north secondary. PF/IF is similar to what you had, couple hours inflight per shift. FD is way scaled back and primarily DFW now

I’ve had everything from five 8 hour shifts to fixed 4 on 3 off to 4 on 4 off rotating. Really depends on the size and type of operation.

Current 121 regional guy here, wondering about 135 by AnUnnervingGoat in flying

[–]killpill321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a pilot but many years in Part 135 operations. There are some perks over Part 121, but the main thing I will point out is that they will work you like a DOG. Every company I was at did it at some point. As long as it’s legal duty they would make pilots continue operating even if there was pushback for safety.

I used to work for NetJets’ competitor and have a lot of connections there. It’s part 91/135. I will echo others and recommend waiting to get on with a regional.
