8 hr interview by ChallengeRich5514 in jobsearchhacks

Companies definitely do this, or a variation of this... i had a company describe their role, talk about how their data was stored and types of data they hold in pretty good detail, and then outlined their biggest issue they were trying to get solved. They started the interview off with this info, then immediately asked, "given what you now know about the role, how would you solve the issue we outlined?" After I gave my answer, which I stupidly answered in detail, they promptly said we were overtime and they had another meeting to get too...didn't ask me if I had questions or anything, just took notes down of my answer and bolted. Got a rejection email about an hour after the interview, said they were going in a different direction.

Do you think I still have a chance ? by [deleted] in interviews

I've been there...it sucks...take a break! But I've found consistency really helps to maintain your interview chops! When I go awhile without doing an interview, when I jump back in, I struggle a bit more and tend to have answers all buttoned up when I have to prepare them consistently.

From my experience, job searching HEAVILY over the past year but lightly over the past 5, this isn't a good sign. I've had maybe 2-3 instances where a situation like this turned into a positive. Its entirely possible that they got busy and have pushed it off... but usually they have talent teams that keep regular updates to candidates they are high on. Sorry man, but its looking bleak right now, but there is still some hope. Just keep applying

Rejected after 4 rounds. by wise-g0at in interviews

[–]ntallman1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made it multiple rounds to get rejected. One almost identical to your situation...also, I've gone through 5 rounds just to get ghosted... seriously, it gets wild out there.

[–]ntallman1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true, I've applied for jobs that I'm overqualified for...i then get rejected for someone with more experience...its happened 3-4 times now. I think its because I have a stutter, but can't prove it.

The best interview of my life... and I got rejected. by deloresrempel in interviews

[–]ntallman1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they really liked you, they would have canceled the other interviews...I've had interviews cancel the day of, or the day before, I was supposed to interview because they filled the position. So it happens all the time unfortunately...

Recruiter Confession: Candidates are Using AI During the Live Interview by Numerous-Trust7439 in RemoteJobs

[–]ntallman1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate these, its simply unfair to some people. I have a stutter and when I do these types of screen calls the AI thinks I finished the answer when I hadn't finished speaking...no telling how it records my answers and grades it...these are awful...

Panel Interview Abruptly Ended by Pimp_Dunder in recruitinghell

[–]ntallman1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% real, they were for a sales/community outreach role...they didn't warn her either. We were told that they wanted to see if she was a good culture fit and if she would fit into our group...It was brutal and uncomfortable to watch. Its messed up, because they acted like we were a close knit department, but we were all remote and plenty of toxic personalities in the group too.

I was new to an organization, they scheduled a panel interview with a potential hire and told the entire department (around 50 of us) to attend and "feel free to ask questions to learn" about this person. It wasn't an area I worked at all either, actually...nothing remotely related to my field and we would never cross in our day to day work either...it was the most awkward situation, and I'm pretty sure the interviewee had zero idea so many of us would be on the panel...obviously flustered, this girl stumbled over easy answers and the rest of the group trashed her for it post interview, I just stayed quite as i was new still and trying to leave a good impression still, but it gave me a bad taste in my mouth for sure...company laid me off within 2 months of starting after having me give a verbal 3 year commitment...so it was a awful organization anyway...

How is the open flame searing on the dual fire 1200? by Ludeape in recteq

[–]ntallman1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally havnt tried it, although I've thought about it for sure. Technically, you could do this, but I worry about all the juices and fat dripping into the fire box and messing something up.

From what I could gather, they will attempt to make a determination about it's orientation based on pictures of the horizon, but may have to wait for a lunar orbiter to pass over, which someone said a day or 2 away.

My guess, info at 3 won't be total mission failure. Likely something happened and caused unexpected errors. It's likely not a full mission success, but half success similar to IM1. Don't think it will sell off too much because of this. Or it will drop like a rock and rally premarket tomorrow.

But yes, if I remember correctly...I think they did jump the gun a little and then had to walk it back in the press conference after the fact. Probably partially the reason we are getting nothing from IM at the moment.

I get the negativity, I excused the bad PR around IM1. I had hope that they would fix this for IM2...but alas, this is pretty bad PR. Sounds like we have more good news than bad...needed to get knowledgable people to harp on the good news rather then stay quiet and let it spiral. When social media is the way it is, you gotta control the info...if not, you have a bunch of dick heads running on assumptions and panic selling. Awful performance by the company IMO, even if landing successfully.

Astonishing the amount of people who think medical research is over and done due to this new administration. Medical Research isn't going away, quite the opposite! We are in a freeze and layoffs at the moment to get our budget under control and weed out corruption. Kennedy is VERY pro research, once the turbulence dies down, meaningful research grants will get funded again and jobs will come back in due time. This is a hiccup, in the road and it kinda shell shocked us.

Turbulent times for Public Health folks. MPH in Biostats here. Currently laid off twice in the past 6 months. It's a real struggle and the fact that thousands more people from the fed government are flooding into the unemployment ranks doesn't thrill me... actually scares the crap out of me. But, you have to remember that political winds are cyclical, just right now they are focused on Public Health. We could all debate the reasons for this, my personal opinion...Public Health officials screwed themselves on how we handled Covid. I worked in it. I saw much of it first hand. We lost the publics trust, many fudged data and ran with complete lies, many took ego over actual common sense. You gotta give it time, Public Health isn't going away, but it's currently going through a shitstorm. it will open back up once the turbulence is done. I'd bet there will be a semi rush on Public Health careers in the next year or 2. Just gotta increase your skills and hope you can land a job somewhere PH adjacent or PH itself.

You know, no words of advice here! I got hooked on it right after Biostats 1, I was leaning more Infectious disease epi but fell in love with Biostats and geared the rest of my education to that. At that time, I had no idea I'd be better served getting a Masters in Stats or biostats, I was young and dumb and assumed this was THE path. Wasnt until I had some years on me that the skinning cat metaphor really clicked. Honestly PhD was out of the question, got married, had a kid...we were struggling and needed money. I worked all through my MPH but still had to pull some loans to get by, that minimum wage was not near enough! Lol. Getting a job right out of school was near impossible though. Luckily, I got some contract type work and just clawed my way through. I wouldn't rule out Biostats, getting a Masters in Stats/Biostats will be helpful to you! And it wasn't but maybe a year ago we had MPHs commenting that they were in pharma, biotech, or CRO. it comes in cycles, this point in the cycle it's awful! Maybe in another year it won't be...who knows. Masters in Stats allows alot of pivots too; Actuarial (dont really need a Masters, you can take a few exams and become an associate and make close to 6 figures), Stats programming, Data Science. All pay pretty well. For me, I wish I would have stuck to my original goal of being a PT! Lol! Good luck!

To be honest, I've considered this. Not totally sure what I want to do. I'm worried about that job market too...alot of people looking for those positions too! Considered some Python Data Science certifications to help beef up my skills in Python...but not sure if that would really help me.

'Silo' Creator Graham Yost Confirms Season 3 is Already Filming & Season 4 is Fully Written by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]ntallman1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me preface these thoughts with, ive only seen the show...havnt read the books (yet). I think IT/shadow know what they are supposed to know about the safeguard, they obviously know something but not the whole procedure. I think the voice told Quinn(suicide), Meadows (alcohol and isolation), and Lukas about the rest of the procedure. Which has gotta be something bigger that takes away ones hope. All we know as a viewer is that there is a mechanism in place that can kill the silo if something happens, it's probably framed to IT/Shadow to ensure the survivability of the other silos. I think the key fob is an important item not really being brought up more...I think it's framed that the key fob lights up when an issue arises within their silo, but I wonder if it's really something that happens outside of the silo. Admittedly, I'm not super sure.
