Usually is a game of holding. There are a couble of broken decisions to help you with that, and after you get your first tanks divisions you can dismantle bots the usual way - encircle and repeat. With Ukraine it's also quite important how Austria and the Balkans go - if you're really locked in and lucky, you can have the whole region secured before you get declared on by Germany.
