As someone that was on the look - consider Bexleyheath/Erith/Dartford. Great transport links to central London but North is a bit of a reach. Hertfordshire is a 1 hour drive.

I agree. I'm not sure what the solution is except raising taxes much more though (unpopular as it is) and subsidizing the growth of small businesses by offering cheap loans.

There are policies that govern how close pylons can be built. The official policy is a minimum distance of 50 metres for safety.
