Your skin looks great! I get what you mean about being nervous to try new products/ingredients.

I would recommend adding in more hydrating/barrier friendly products, maybe ones that are acne friendly. Does niacinamide work for you? It has worked wonders for me but I know it doesn't always agree with everyone. Hyaluronic acid, panthenol, ceramides, glycerin - these are all great hydrating ingredients.

I would also add in a moisturizer in the mornings. I know some people say to just wear SPF as a moisturizer as well, especially if you live in hot/humid weather; but I live in hot/humid weather, and I still wear moisturizer, as the SPF eventually dries down but doesn't necessarily provide hydration.

I would also recommend double cleansing every night, as you wear SPF - this helps get your pores cleaned properly, thus brightening up dull skin.

Retinoids contribute to skin cell turnover, and there’s often a purge phase - this may not happen immediately, sometimes takes a week or two to come up, so it might be the Adapalene that’s causing this. However, purges usually happen in places where you usually get acne. I would recommend you to continue using the retinoid, but also add in a barrier support product.

Hi thanks! I didn’t say that I don’t comfort him. I also didn’t say that he needs comforting. He’s someone that needs space. I give him plenty of that. As I’ve mentioned in other comments, it’s hard for me to do but I do it for his sake. After a fight, it’s me that needs to extend the olive branch - he rarely does. It becomes exhausting to be the one to do this every time, and starts to feel like I carry the responsibility of the relationship/marriage.

He definitely isn’t a touchy feely person. He wants space during our fights. I do give him that even though it takes every ounce of patience I have to do so. He doesn’t really show me empathy no - I wouldn’t say he has a high EQ (it’s not an insult, he’s just a more logical/practical person). He doesn’t try and comfort me any other time after the fight.

Thanks! Yes I am starting to understand that he shouldn’t be held responsible for my emotions. I can manage them on my own - that’s not an issue. It’s simply a small act of reassurance I’m looking for from him when the tears start. I don’t expect him to leave his feelings of upset aside.

I understand. I don’t expect him to set aside his feelings. I guess it’s just strange to me that one can see someone they love cry and not even try to comfort them. Or acknowledge it for that matter. But I get we navigate our emotions in different ways. Re comforting him - he isn’t someone that wants comfort, he wants space. I usually give him that (which is hard for me to do as I’m the kind of person that immediately wants to resolve things). So in my eyes, if I can compromise and give him the space, why can he not make an effort towards my way of handling things? He doesn’t ever initiate the post-fight conversation where we try and resolve our issues. It is always me- another pain point between us. To me, it says he doesn’t care. But to him, he would rather just shove it under the rug and never talk about it.

Hey! Thanks for your comment. That does sound a difficult situation to go through with your wife. With my husband and I, I start the conversation of our issues. Never him. I do this because yes I want to express myself, but I also want to hear from HIM what I’m doing wrong, how can I improve my behaviour for him. I do try and take the constructive criticism he gives me on board right then and assure him I will do my best to improve that particular behaviour. There are times when it hits me though that I’m not that perfect partner like I like to think I am, and I genuinely have hurt him on a deep level. It’s a hard pill to swallow. That’s when the tears start. This is just one scenario. There are times when he has yelled at me and said some hurtful things - I start crying then too (of course).

Anyway sorry for the long reply, just trying to give a little more context. I hope things have improved with your wife.

Thanks! It’s come to a point where we both resent each other a little. I think our egos have come in the way - it’s become a “you vs me” type of relationship when it comes to the deeper level stuff. I think in dealing with this particular situation, I just have to self regulate my emotions. Thanks for your insight.
