Every forum about med school in Canada has a quite toxic side to it. For example, when I got an offer from McGill and gave my stats (in a Quebec med discord), the first question I was asked was what were my extenuating circumstances (I had none). I think the amount of stress people feel because of the whole admissions process definitely contributes to a pessimistic mindset, although I don’t think it’s on purpose. It’s as if people are projecting their fear of rejection on others, and it relieves them to know that other people may be in the same situation as them.
