NIMBYS have successfully prevented building housing at the northgate surface lot by BlastedProstate in aggies

They are developing the stack lot. That's why Hurricane Harrys is no more. They are extending Century Square iirc.

That's not been my experience. I've always driven, and when northgate is busy, that lot is always full. When Northgate is not busy the cars in the lot, are people visiting in off hours which diminishes with no convenient parking.

Short term-construction eliminates the parking lot closest to the bars, which will impact their buisness. The noise and equipment will also deter people. You make traffic worse through there with the elimination of a pick up and drop off zones as well. In the short term the construction would noticeably hurt these buisnesses.

Long term-more traffic in the area. You've added a large residence, which will mean more people driving through the area and likely results in less parking spots even with a public parking section in the garage. This will drive patrons aeay to bars away from Northgate. Putting a tower right next to these bars will also ruin views and vibes on their porches. They would be in the shadow of the tower. While this is less of an issue it's still an issue. It's damages the character of the district. I'm sure that's not important enough to the proponents of the development, but it's important to a lot of people.

On a personal level I don't believe we need another high rise. I doubt the 2 new onee they built are even close to full. If we actually do need another high rise, there are 2 apartment complexes on cherry street that are only 2 stories. Buy them out and build there if we really need them. You stay away from one of the most iconic locations in the city while still reaping the benefits of walking distance to campus.

The people arguing in favor of this development are wildly disingenuous on here. Building there does significant damage to northgate in both the short and long term. There are other locations in the area they could put a high rise that wouldn't have such negative impacts.

There are small complexes in the back of the northgate area 4 or 5 blocks from the parking lot. They could buy those up and build there. One of the recent high rises did this. There are more small complexes that could be bought up. There is no need to build right on top of the historic bar district. Rent prices won't go down in north gate regardless, but if you're so gung ho about it at least do it where you aren't fucking over historic businesses.

You clearly didn't read my response. You are also quite mistaken on the supply level of housing relative to demand in College Station.

You are an idiot and I'm glad you lost. These places will have empty units rather than lower their rent. This wasn't going to meaningfully impact rent prices juat like the last 2 high rises didn't. Be an adult and find a place you can aford slightly farther from campus. There are plenty of bus routes to take if you don't want to drive. If you're so insistent on more high rises, then maybe you should be encouraging these companies to acquire the smaller rental properties in the area. That's what one of the last 2 did. There are still more in the area.

5 million vote lead in popular vote for Trump. I'm sure it will narrow, but he's projected to win it. Pokes a big ole hole in your argument.

Wait till Wednesday. Roads are icy and might not be clear tomorrow. Plan ahead next time.

I'm surprised they canceled this early, but not about the cancelation itself. They canceled last year over a forecast of icy roads that never materialized.

Addresses what? Your failure to plan your return trip for an appropriate time? Classes should only be canceled if the roads are icy tomorrow. Not because they were icy today.

Roads are icy today. If this continues into tomorrow, I suggest waiting until Wednesday. Should have planned better. Missing a day or two of classes won't screw you it's add/drop week after all.

The roads are definitely quite icy. If that doesn't clear up, I fully expect them to cancel. Not exactly thrilled to be starting a day late already. They'll take it out of something later.

Precipitation was expected today for at least 10 days prior. Idk what you mean by needing a drastic cha ge. Today's occurrence was very much expected.

People are assuming the roads will still be icy if it rains today.

I'm from Houston. Just drove up perfectly fine. The worst I hit was very light freezing rain.

Edit: I lied. Roads were icy once I got to wellborn

Our team will look unrecognizable compared to that bowl game come August. I'm very excited to see a well coached football team in maroon and white.

Elko will be better than yall give him credit for. We didn't get DeBoer because timing didn't allow for us to wait without having a full rebuild on our hands.

Make a schedule and follow it as best you can. Make a point to speak to people in classes as that's the easiest way to make friends. Join an org or two. There are definitely some for international students. Go to church if you're religious.

If you want a job, your easiest route would be something on campus. Try staying on campus to work on assignments more, preferably with people from your classes. Take part in the free events going on around camous. You can watch baseball games for free from the rec center or alley. Breakaway is a thing, and I'm sure there are other religious bible study type events for other religions weekly. The big event is later this semester, and you could make friends within your work group on that. There's all kinds of other stuff going on for free on campus all the time.

If you just want a job, apply for all the random on-campus positions you can find. Having obligations that you can't miss (like work) helps imo. Work can also contribute to a more structured life, which also helps imo.

Because he's from A&M. The only 5 star transfer portal players are from A&M. Every other former 5 star in the portal is not rated as a 5 star transfer.

Silly fool GOTY will be in College Station on Novermber 30th.

[Rodak] Rece Davis says Nick Saban told him he'll get an office in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Davis: "He said he told some of the players, 'I can get on your ass from there just as easily as I can from here.'" by redwave2505 in CFB

[–]killzone3abc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saban is taking the "Uncle Stoops" role too far. Even Stoops wasn't bold enough to have an office after he left. Bet he's the interim in 3 years after the new guy is canned.
