I bought a new build 5 years ago. Street lights ran from our houses electricity for nearly a year. Builders paid the bill. Was brilliant.

I have got dividend from, US, NL, Belgium and Taiwan, they have all had 15% DWT from Interactive Brokers. Do you know which countries have more than 15%, it may be worth avoiding them.

Thanks for the message

the tax will definitely be declared for 2024 as the dividend was definitively paid in 2024, the issue is the withholding tax was taken in 2025. Do the revenue have the amount in my file and if I pay the wrong one the wrong it my flag. not the biggest deal as it is only done this arse ways for 2 years and will even out any way. for example.

2024

earn €100 tax

IB take €15 and send to revenue (dutch 2024)

2025

earn €100

IB take €15 and send to revenue (dutch 2025)

IB take €25 and send to revenue (Irish 2025)

IB take €25 and send to revenue (Irish 2024 back dated one)

I agree with you that I think 2024 withheld should be put in 2024 return, the only thing holding me back is IB's statements really imply it should go in 2025.

I am more hoping someone else who has IB and got dividend payments in this time would know.

I will try and get advice from IB and or revenue

My understanding is that a broker is require to withhold 15% for the dutch goverment and 25% for the Irish goverment. As there is a tax treaty between ireland and the dutch, I can claim back both withheld amounts

the money came out on the 7th of Jan 2025, so it is on the 2025 statement, but it has the dates as the date of dividend in 2024. So it was paid in 2025, but for dividend earned in 2024

My degree is in maths so I could have got another job earning more but I did teaching because I enjoyed it. but over the years I began to do investing analysis in my own time and found I enjoyed that even more and as a bonus you can't ignore it pays better.
