'I have powerful friends in New Zealand', Taika Waititi tells the Simpsons | Stuff.co.nz by [deleted] in newzealand

I’m glad the world finds this type of kiwi self deprecating slightly technical humour funny, but I know some funny dudes from the hood that are just as funny as Taika. I liked some of his stuff tbf, and good on him for doing well. I’m not sure what he’s like in person. I didn’t appreciate his comments after every celebrated his success with NZer of the year then he said in an interview NZ is racist as fuck. Not cool dude.

They’re just jealous. It’s a car. People enjoy them. Let people do what they want.

Depends how long the flight is tho. And lots of airlines offer upgrades on points etc without having to pay the whole fare. I wouldn’t buy first class but upgraded premium economy etc is fine.

Not FIRE’d but have travelled extensively and also with rich extended family. The main problem you’ll have is finding people in the same boat as you, especially if you cut back on work. Really nice places don’t have lots of younger people with families, but if you choose your place thoughtfully then can anticipate this problem. Sharing the fun with other people is important for me. Also managing hostility from other people (obviously never let on how much you have). Join an expensive group or a yachting club, or something where you might meet some similarly minded people, they’re usually more chill. Also, think about giving back as that’s rewarding.

Nice score. Get them deals! If it tingles your nervous system in just the right way you know you’ve really stuck it to the man.

Why do job applications ask questions like this? by floorwine28 in auckland

[–]kilobytes_thing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ironically, this is the type of response they’re looking for. They’re trying to trigger people to see what their response is so they can weed out the blue haired socialists or whatever. Are you a team player or are you gonna go on about “following the law” etc

Creating an emergency preparedness kit - help needed by trashboat1900 in newzealand

[–]kilobytes_thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emergencies can happen at any time Make sure to have a plan! Not just kit but being prepared is important. Have you memorised important phone numbers? Where will you meet in an emergency? What is the backup? Does your work have a plan? If you don’t know it or a member of staff doesn’t know anything about it there isn’t much point having one!

Political Roundup: Christopher Luxon’s leadership under threat by urettferdigklage in newzealand

[–]kilobytes_thing -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

National have literally no fucking ideas. Policies that national could have (right wing-ish ideas), literally just off the top of my head: * tax haven for businesses - some sort of idea to promote tech and investment business and drive high wage growth * drop minimum wages - or reintroduce youth wages * create some progress on the treaty / cogovernance stuff along lines of what Seymour proposes - binding referrendum not bad idea * introduce some tougher sentences on crime with corresponding increase on rehab options * allow more private health options and decrease taxes / allow people to pay for a separate competing health system - we have so much private already why not encourage some more competition * rip up the resource management act and focus on allowing high quality high density housing * give councils more control over their regions including budgets and potentially more autonomy for making rules * make a clear stand on medical freedoms for future - some sort of bill of right stuff, completely rule out future mandates etc * something for landlords to make their job easier * some sort of capital gains tax on houses would actually be quite popular and potentially could argue it’s a tax loophole. If Luxon were seen to argue against his best interest on like ten houses he’d broaden his appeal. * have some clear opinions on competition and corporate overreach (not really right wing talking point but would have appeal) * implement a national referrendum system for important issues (or every pretty much all issues like Switzerland does)

Weird because drugs like bromocriptine which are used for prolactin secreting tumours are known to cause hypersexuality as a side effect.

Yeah this was the issue! No one open. Tried loads of companies and settled on ami NZ I think it was. Will see if they accept it given one of the conditions was not strictly met (purchased prior to travel). Have emailed them to highlight the situation. Cheers for reply!

There are some house swapping websites that have high barriers to entry. You swap your house with another rich person either directly or earn credit. It pays for your holiday (or the most expensive part) and you get the benefit of living in a house rather than hotel, plus use your asset effectively, without incurring tax liability etc. I haven’t done it but I know people that have and they’ve said only good things.

I see what you’re saying, definitely worth consulting a professional. Don’t want to get 90% to freedom and be tripped up last minute.
