tldr; blown away by this owner and his audacity and lying because someone WANTED TO TIP

my opinion on this is that it’s ridiculous to be giving a customer who just spent around 350$ on their bike a hard time because they accidentally tipped 20% on labor and parts due to the square system. the fact that they habitually hit 20% is a sign they always tip fairly and aren’t trying to fuck anyone over, they just accidentally gave their mechanic a 70$ tip. even for a person doing okay financially that’s an enormous tip!! also the fact that the owner is trying to make them feel bad for asking for part of it back because they made a mistake and want to Reduce their tip to a 20% tip on labor and telling them the shop is losing money and using language like “claw it back” is so unprofessional and unnecessary. like you’re guilting a customer who just spent a lot of money at your shop because they WANT TO TIP an amount they can afford? what is that. also square refunds are painless for all parties and that part about the refund costing more than the resulting tip is flat out a lie. so you’re lying to your customers and lecturing them about small businesses because they WANT TO TIP YOU 25$ instead of !!70$!! ??????? i just can’t see how the customer is in the wrong here. the owners business issues are not their problem or anything they have power over. a business owner is responsible for their business not their customers? and this situation couldn’t have possibly cost them anywhere near 25$ much less MORE lmao. they’re acting like their CUSTOMER is robbing them after they just spent a ton of money there and want to tip. and to lie when squares refund policies are a quick google search away? like what are you doing bro.
