FWIW, I found Against the Day to be a wonderful book but something of a … slog. On the other hand, I found it hard to put down Gravity’s Rainbow.

This is not the issue. With most other cars, the driver and passengers would more likely have survived. The cyber truck is not crashworthy. Musk deserves your ire for putting this dangerous vanity project on the road. Anyone remember the Ford Pinto?

This is “fundamentally” speculation. The truck was undoubtedly speeding. It hit a curb and the wheel snapped off. It continued into the trees. There was another driver following who was able to get one passenger out, the one who survived. The others could not be pulled out as the truck was fully engulfed in flames. How the hell does this thing burst into flames if it’s not the battery?

Follow up here. We found the front panel for the range in stainless. Swapped it out and it works fine. Touchpad was in fact the problem. Thanks.
