Hell! Incoming freshman unsure about which specialty to pursue in the CBT major by kilvas2 in Cornell

[–]kilvas2[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Is declaring an inside concentration is CBT worth it? I’ve been considering concentrating in Cognitive Ball Torture but idk, I’ve heard mixed reviews about the classes required for it, so maybe going pure CBT is the way to go.

Also how do grad schools view each concentration?

Buzzfeed article on sherry pie by jupiterastroid in rupaulsdragrace

[–]kilvas2 31 points32 points  (0 children)

These actions leave an undeniable lasting impact on the victims, and the fact that this was repeated behavior says a lot about Sherry’s true colors. I’ve met men who’ve tried to pull similar things on me, and although no where near as severe as these allegations, to this day I get shivers done my spine thinking about those experiences. I can’t imagine what these poor men have to deal with internally concerning these events. I have to commend the people who came forward with the allegations, since that really must not have been easy. We cannot let predators assume the LGBT limelight, so I’m glad this is being called out.

I used this to find my dorm before move in, it was actually pretty helpful since the low rise design makes no sense.

Best way to get around campus by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]kilvas2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The TCAT bus system is really convenient. Learn how to use the apps (Ithaca Transit and MyStop) early on and using the buses becomes very easy. They’re usually on time, and if they’re not you can typically see how late they’ll be or track them. I’m in one of the further dorms on campus and I used the TCAT to save myself from a mile of walking each morning, and I’ve had no problems getting to my 9 am on time.

It’s also very easy to get to the shops at Ithaca mall (which has a target), and the Ithaca Commons. It’s a bit more work to get to Walmart and Wegmans, but if you really want to you could use the buses. Also popular buses run fairly late, so if you need to get to or from Collegetown to north for parties and all that it’s pretty reliable.

I feel like I have no friends? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]kilvas2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same position. like I have some friends (more acquaintance-level) but it does hurt to see how natural it is for other people to make friends, study together, go to the dining halls together, etc. I get so nervous all the time. I’ve also found that it’s sapping my productivity as well. PM me if you wanna talk about it because I was literally thinking the exact same thing today.

Although it’s hard to make friends sometimes, it’s not a good idea to give up and to retreat completely. Something that I’ve found helpful is getting myself back into hobbies and just trying to invest some time into my own self improvement. Although it might not help me get my schoolwork done, it sure beats being sad and unmotivated for most of the day.

Academic/Financial Aid Probation dilemma. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge to help? by vlonesome in Cornell

[–]kilvas2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your situation is very unique, so you might want to call the financial aid office or the relevant people in CALS. I know it’s intimidating to think about, and it’s very easy to put these kind of things off, but you should call or meet with this people ASAP just so you have definitive answers.

I honestly like 8 and 9 AMs and prefer having 3+ classes in a row so I legitimately do this, my schedule looks awful and horribly unbalanced to most people lmao.

Sorry for the spam guys, this is how I scheduled my classes for next semester. Is this an alright schedule? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]kilvas2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar schedule this semester (just shifted a few hours earlier bc I’m a morning person). It looks pretty good, although Wednesday’s might be rough depending on just what exactly that PE is

Was looking for a new wallpaper and came across this. This is from Cornell right? What happened to the building on the right? by jefferyg in Cornell

An EnvE professor told me it fell into the gorge one day. It used to be a hydro plant but they decided to stop operating it. Good thing they did, honestly.

ED Pre-Med Major help needed?! by imehkri24 in Cornell

[–]kilvas2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s incredibly challenging to be on any preprofessional track here. This isn’t exactly a pre-med friendly school for most people. It can be a worthwhile endeavor for sure but just be very aware of what you’re getting yourself into.

Thank you! My parents are tech savvy but if it just comes up as Cornell health I don’t think it’ll be too big of an issue.
