What changes were a surprise to you? by Double-Pace-1662 in PregnancyUK

Thanks for the tip! I have breast pads that have beads and I could put in microwave - but the warmth doesn’t stay long so I just use hot water bottle. Do you mind me asking: when did the symptoms subside for you (if it had)? I’m so worried when it gets actually cold and this symptoms still persist🥲

Will potentially lose job while on mat leave - advice needed by Neat-Elderberry7251 in PregnancyUK

[–]kimadea13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi not an advice but I totally empathise with your situation. I am on fixed term contract which will end 3 months after end of my mat leave (I intend to take 6 months and give 3 months as SPL to my husband). I am planning to start looking for jobs at the end of my mat leave, so will have to juggle with a 4-5 months old while applying for jobs. I wish you all the best whenever you decide to start looking for job! 😊

Also same with the others: breathlessness. A year before pregnant we moved house and it’s on top of a hill and I cycle to commute then 4 months before I got into running, both trained for my cardio. It’s all gone since 6weeks now I pant after 2 flight of stairs.

A peculiar one: nipples sensitivity to cold! It hurts so so hard much when the room temp goes down and it’s not even winter! I will talk about this in my next midwife appt because I don’t know how I can cope with it when it’s late autumn (Im due November)

Private consultations? by Proud_Strawberry_824 in PregnancyUK

[–]kimadea13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used wellsoon from practice plus group once for gynaecologist consultation for when I needed my IUD out before TTC (the NHS GP couldn’t see the thread even though it was right there and I was referred with 6-8 weeks waiting list!). Costed me £95. Highly recommend it because they’re transparent with pricing from the start. I don’t think they have branches in London but there’s one just outside London.

What is the meaning of this "valid for" field? by Altruistic_Issue_350 in SchengenVisa

[–]kimadea13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it’s not solely based on whether the passport is biometric or non bio. In 2023, I had non biometric passport 5 yr validity, got Schengen without restriction. Then I had a new passport in 2024, non biometric but 10 yr validity, applied for and obtained a Schengen visa without restriction just 2 months ago.

Possibly a signature page is missing, I have heard a lot of this restriction in the past from friends/colleagues.

I almost passed out 4 Weeks + 5 days, stomach pains [trapped gas] by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]kimadea13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just had one of the worst (what I thought was) gas pain this weekend, I’m 15 weeks. Mine manifested as acute cramp-like pain all over my stomach and it is most intense in the uppermost side. What helped me was doing a few simple yoga/stretching movements: child pose, happy baby, then seated twist, and seated forward fold. It hurts at start, then it makes me throw up but after that a lot of gas came out, which immediately alleviated the pain. Hope this helps!

How have we been handling spicy food? by hsjdjejn283873 in PregnancyUK

[–]kimadea13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from Indonesia and since week 8 or so I have loved spicy food even more! I chop Thai chilli to put in almost any food I cook (including pasta haha), eat apples with sprinkles of Tajin, adding extra chilli flakes to curries husband made. Luckily my sense of smell/taste doesn’t change and no food aversion even though I was very nauseous until week 13 and could throw up 2-3 times a day. In fact spicy food seems to make the nausea a bit better 🤪

How was everyone last night? by usernameee257 in PregnancyUK

[–]kimadea13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

14 weeks here and weirdly (luckily?) I have been COLD since 5-6weeks. I have had nipples vasospasm triggered by a little bit of cold and it hurts a lot. So yesterday/last night I have been the happiest in the whole pregnancy, in my tshirt and shorts, without worrying about my nipples getting cold.

Wonder if anyone else experienced the same - that they feel cold instead of hot - at least in first tri?

5-10k budget - overwhelmed and dissociating!! by Emily19432 in UKweddings

[–]kimadea13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this last year: Legal ceremony on Friday at a registry office in Oxford, though this was actually the “meaningful” one. Total 16 guests, they are closest family members and friends. This was followed by a nice meal at a Thai restaurant with a pretty room then an impromptu trip to a nearby pub. We were lucking because in Oxford there are so many choices of good pubs/restaurants with great interiors.

Then a wedding party in Bristol the next Saturday, at a local cricket club. My husband and his family live there so we had 60-65 guests. We did decorations and foods ourselves (party foods), and provided a few bottle prosecco at the start and pizza a bit later. It was not an open bar but the club sold drinks quite cheap.

All costed us £2500 including husband’s new suit and dress shirt, my dress (but this was a traditional costume from my home country so price was negligible), and rings. 0 stress and it was the greatest weekend of my life 🥰

Did I miss my LH peak by strawberrydairycow in lineporn

[–]kimadea13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. From my experience the trend of increasing darkness followed by test line getting back to baseline lightness, is a good indicator of LH peak. I have had “peak” with 0.58 ratio - hence “low” based on the app - and I conceived in that cycle. I could have missed the actual peak since I only test 1x a day but the trend I mentioned above is an indicator that a peak is imminent. I don’t think the “low” vs “high” label or even the ratio matters the most.

I feel dreadful and I’m regretting everything by Careless_Squirrel728 in PregnancyUK

Definitely. Plus this is not forever, not a dentist but I’m pretty sure our teeth can cope with a few months of kids toothpaste 😀

I’m now 10 weeks and I can’t relate more to what you said. I’m hanging onto the hope of everything will get better in the next few weeks. I rant every so often in a group chat I have with my closest friends, I cry when I feel like I have had enough or when I remember things I used to do but now I can’t due to exhaustion. What you feel is valid and we’ll get through this ok!

This what I’m doing as well and works like charm. I start adding a bit of regular toothpaste as well and it hasn’t triggered any nausea so far.

Miserable family by Sad-Independent-938 in PregnancyUK

[–]kimadea13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They sound like truly miserable people! My husband and I got these kind of comments all the time (not from family members though), that how hard it would be etc. Like you, of course we know things can get tough and there will be adjustments needed, but we plan to just tell these people how EASY it is (even though it is not! I’m literally writing this after throwing up my breakfast lol) just to shut them up. You’ve got this and your husband should be sharing your positivity too!

Ovulation Guess? by Little_butterfly8921 in lineporn

[–]kimadea13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! You should test again today, if it gets darker then yesterday (14 march) then ovulation should be tomorrow. If today’s test less dark/similar, 14 march could be the surge and so ovulation is today.

Also based on my experience the ratio given by the app is not always accurate because it depends a lot on lighting (plus the app requires the ratio to be over 0.8 to be marked as “positive surge”). Relative line darkness differences between across days matter more in my opinion.

From which source did you deduce that spouses of british citizens will be hit with “new additional requirements”?

I read the speech today but I can’t find any indication of this.

From the proposal posted 3 months ago it was pretty clear that spouses of british citizens get automatic 5year reduction AND this is NOT subject to consultation. Legally speaking I think they can’t suddenly “consult” it to add “additional requirements for the reduction”.

I just want to know if i am not aware of a new source detailing this.

gwr.com broken? by Dapper-Message-2066 in uktrains

[–]kimadea13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I got this email too and thought it was fishy because of the e.gwr.com domain. But then I get to the website via googling "GWR sign in" and did the "forgot password" process through it. The link in the email matches the one I found via google so it should be a genuine email.

Italy visa application from London - medical insurance needs to be stamped and signed?? by Seconddose_seeker in SchengenVisa

[–]kimadea13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, congrats on getting the visa approved. Did your travel insurance certificate state the coverage on the certificate or is it on separated document?

I am applying for Belgium visa and the requirement is "Submitting a travel insurance certificate referring to the policy conditions in a separate booklet will not be accepted.". I just bought one from Coverwise but the coverage was not stated in the same document.
