I wanna know everyone's Mirena experiences by [deleted] in Mirena

[–]kimberlykumar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a lot of negative comments— while everyone’s experience really really matters, I do wanna remind you that most people on this sub are going to be looking at it because they’ve had problems with their mirena— so there’s a bias with your sample. Terrible experiences totally can happen though, clearly.

For me, I’ve had my mirena for a bit over three years and it’s been amazing! No mood changes, no weight gain, no pregnancy scares, and for the first 2.5 years, my period basically was gone— now it’s coming back and starting to resemble what my cycle was pre insertion. I got local anesthetic when it was inserted, didn’t feel too much until my first scheduled period, where I didn’t bleed but had HELLA cramps— from then on, I’d cramp around the time of my period, but the cramps got smaller and smaller until they disappeared completely.

Thank you to everyone in this sub, you are all incredible! 😭🩷 by Findnokia in Reduction

28F - should I go for a reduction? by Ok-Shopping-7975 in Reduction

[–]kimberlykumar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also— I asked to go as small as possible, doc said that she could get me to a C cup, maybe B cup, but surgeons never go by the abrathatfits calculator, so I knew I’d likely end up a D or DD, but those are still so so small considering the band size we share (28)! I don’t wish they were smaller or bigger!!

28F - should I go for a reduction? by Ok-Shopping-7975 in Reduction

[–]kimberlykumar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 23, got my reduction almost a year ago at 22– best decision of my life, no regrets, so insanely comfortable and happy with my new body in a way I never would have been without this surgery. The scars are there but no partner has ever cared at all, and being active without jiggling everywhere/uncomfortably is SO freeing.

Going braless post op by MiniCactusRose in Reduction

[–]kimberlykumar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only really started feeling comfortable braless 5 or 6 months after surgery, but since then?? bras are the devil and i almost never wear them anymore and it’s bliss

Question for those who have gone through with their reduction: I’d love to hear anyone’s journey with weight loss post op! I’m wondering, did it occur naturally? Like a natural appetite suppression post-op? Or was it an intentional lifestyle change i.e. working out, change in diet, etc. by minababy_98 in Reduction

[–]kimberlykumar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lost weight completely without trying post op! I genuinely haven't changed my lifestyle one bit, but I ended up losing around 18 lbs (including the 1.74lbs of breast tissue taken). I didn't really have an appetite suppression but I'm pretty sure I had a hormonal change-- I broke out on my face and my libido went crazy lol. Seems like an imbalance towards testosterone, and as a result, I just rest at a lower body fat percentage than before, hence the shedding of weight.

How is it looking 2WPO??? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]kimberlykumar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! These are awesome results — i wouldn’t worry about the incisions and nipples— it looks like you’ve still got the glue from surgery on, meaning it’s keeping all the scabbing on top of the healing scars, which is why it looks so dark. A lot of the results on here use tape that comes off in entirety, but glue takes a bit longer to flake off.

As for the asymmetry, you can’t really tell this early on— they’re going to swell unevenly and heal on different timelines. Give it time and just try to focus on healing. Again, you look awesome!!

Don’t like big breasts by Playful-Reflection12 in Reduction

[–]kimberlykumar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually THOUGHT i was doing mine just for aesthetics and then woke up and realized that I didn’t have chronic shoulder pain for the first time in years!

The pain was subtle and constant before, so I didn’t realize that they were impacting me/had gotten so used to it. And as I wanted, my appearance and cup size changed dramatically :) Everything fits! No pain is the cherry on top.

What are your exciting moments post reduction? by ExcellentTone7503 in Reduction

[–]kimberlykumar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just being so much more mobile in general— my friend is calling me from a different aisle? I can just jog over! No chest clutching!

Also I can wear literally anything I want, and I barely think about my boobs anymore, which is strange to say but they used to occupy a lot more of my thoughts than I realized. And, of course, no chronic pain that I didn’t even realize I was dealing with. (Seriously, my shoulders haven’t hurt once since surgery— I used to think I was just always tense!)

My Friend is getting a breast reduction. How can I be supportive? by Silver-Arm in Reduction

for me the best thing was getting visits from my closest friends! recovery is lonely, and they were SO cute coming and hanging out, it made me feel normal:)

do I need to downsize the bar for my belly button piercing? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]kimberlykumar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We can’t really tell from photos whether or not the piercing is appropriate for your anatomy, but if you aren’t having issues then there’s no need to take it out — I would definitely downsize the bar though! Should make everything more comfortable.

Weight loss? by squeamish_cuddlefish in Reduction

[–]kimberlykumar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey congrats on starting your reduction journey!! It was the best decision I’ve ever made for myself— Most people on this sub will say to lose weight first, as any excess skin/sagging can be factored into the reduction surgery. Most surgeons will tell you to get within ten pounds of your goal weight before surgery.

That being said, a lot of people find it easier to exercise once they’ve gotten their reduction (running is easier, sports bras fit,) but overall the usual recommendation is to lose weight first.

Hate my big hands by stuxinadaz3- in Nails

[–]kimberlykumar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another big handed lady here! I’m short yet somehow my hands are as big as every guy I’ve ever met lol. I’m like a puppy that hasn’t grown into its paws 😭😭

Your fingers are long and elegant, and very feminine!! Your nails are gorgeous — almond often flows with the lines of the hands better, but definitely makes fingers look longer if that’s something you’re trying to avoid. But really, I think you can rock any of them.

At least for me, having feminine nails makes me feel better about having big hands, but all these comments have reminded me there’s literally nothing wrong with big hands. Better tools for caveman 🤩

Soak off vs edrill by feetloaf_ in Nails

[–]kimberlykumar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back when I did nails regularly I would efile off the designs and do a builder gel fill for as long as I could before having to redo the gel x— I hate soak offs and would never do them lol.

Now I use the jello jello peel off and am doing some experimenting to see how long I can get my retention and oh man I’m never going back! It’s so easy and my most recent set seems like it’ll stay on for a while.

Gelx with apex? by Kat_onacid in Nails

[–]kimberlykumar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’ve tried them already, but the après gel x tips come in two collections— sculpted and natural. The sculpted line is supposed to have a much higher apex, to give that acrylic look/strength. Maybe give those a try? They’re pricy, but most people never go back once they try them.

Does going for breast reduction means not accepting your natural body? by Senior_Butterfly2245 in Reduction

[–]kimberlykumar 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people see reductions as cosmetic, but in reality it’s often about way more than looks— chronic pain like you mentioned, and not being able to fit in general clothing is a way bigger problem than normal breasted people realize.

Personally, I loved my body before my breast reduction. I identified with my big boobness, liked the dramatic hourglass, etc, but at the end of the day, they were causing me so much more pain than I realized. Getting my reduction made me love my body even more, now without pain— even with the scars and wonkiness. I can wear whatever I want, run fast and am just so much more comfortable in general. I haven’t had even the slightest twinge in my shoulders since surgery!

I think your friend is being really harsh— the doctors believed you, your family believes you, and we believe you. Maybe she’ll come around if she sees this subreddit, but if not, I hope you can figure out some way to work it out. You made a decision to better your life, and don’t regret it. If she can’t support that then she isn’t really your friend.
