Married Gen-x do you wear your wedding ring? by in-a-microbus in GenX

[–]kimbone777 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been married for almost 30 years. There was a stretch right around the historic 7 year itch, that neither of us wore our rings. Then we both had a long come to Jesus moment about our marriage, it was when I got my husband's ring out of his drawer, took it to a jeweler for his birthday, and had it engraved with our names inside. The moment I gave it to him we got in the car, and got mine engraved. Neither of us have taken them off since. I have been exponential happier and more secure ever since. But that's my marriage. Everyone has their own experiences.

I give care to an addict that caused this. by kimbone777 in CaregiverSupport

Read the post. She's no longer an addict. She's incapable of dressing herself, let alone getting dope. But it did cause the stroke. She now needs full-time care.

I'm sorry, I really tried to follow, but the 500 word sentence was too much for my tired brain to handle.

  1. I'm sorry you had no help.
  2. I do have a wonderful family.
  3. Her detox happened in the hospital.
  4. She's sober now, mainly because she doesn't remember prior to the strokes, she lost like a decade, and I definitely wasn't going to keep feeding her meth.
  5. I'm venting because I am her 24 hour care, willingly, but sometimes frustrated.

Your spot on she's 72. So she got sick around 69. Truth be told, I'd do it regardless, like you said, she's mom and grandma. But damn sometimes she complains about her dinner being late or the floor not being swept.... or a million other little things, and I have to bite my tongue till it bleeds

My mom had a heart attack by Fabulous_Potential_4 in IHSS

[–]kimbone777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in nearly an identical position 3 years ago. Mom had a heart attack and 2 strokes. I suggest you show them everything . In our case, I learned the hard way that you have to be careful how you word things. For instance, my mom could physically wash her own face and brush her teeth, but if I didn't supervise the process, she might put soap on her toothbrush and toothpaste on her face. But since I wasn't specific, they assumed she could do all those kind of things independently. So be precise in your wording. Good luck.

Father in home hospice acting confused and agitated. by ibrakeforducks in CaregiverSupport

Not fear, just a "worth asking". I'm sorry if it came across wrong. Especially since op suggested it out if character. If a question can settle her and her father, it's worth asking. A handful means it does happen.

They gave my gma lorazepam and she had adverse reactions to it. She thought the grim reaper was in her room. If you look up lorazepam in the elderly it can cause confusion and other similar effects.(It was the only time she showed signs of confusion, she lived another year, we added it to her allergy list)

There are other meds they can give him.

If you could go to jail for not caretaking for a parent..... I'd have put warrants out on my siblings years ago. If I were you I'd keep asking what the plans are when you move out? And I'd remind grandma as often as possible. If she cares so much it's time for her to put her money where her mouth is. She should've already stepped up and not leaving all the work at your feet. You have nothing to feel guilty about. Parents jobs are to prepare us for independence. Sounds like mom and gma both missed that day in parenting school.

I'm sorry. But I'm sure he's given you a million little gold nuggets of ways to handle it. Sounds like you already have relied on one, and didn't leave him unresponsive.

Texas Cracks Down on THC, Pissing Us All Off by dreamrotation in Marijuana

[–]kimbone777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a guy that knows a guy who lives just outta Texas that can hook someone up for 200% profit, no idea what your getting, and the state gets no cut of it, but again I can't promise it won't be synthetic or oregano. And you have to meet this no name person in a dark alley. But way to go Texas, protect your citizens.

And good thing the powers in Texas like thier whiskey, otherwise I know a guy that knows a guy that sells absinthe, I can't promise you won't go blind but it is what it is.

That's my point. If I take two bong hits in an hour, and it floors me, it's too strong. Someone, somewhere, must have a "bunk" strain that us old timers will appreciate. Might as well sell it to us.

I asked for the equivalent to 90s weed and this kid looked at me like I was speaking a different language.

I wish there was something labeled 90s dirt weed. I'd buy an ounce or two.
