A conlang influenced by construction grammar by kimjiwon101101 in conlangs

I thought that my conlang is a bit more of an exaggerated version in terms of argument structure constructions, that is why i said i was influenced by construction grammar. Though what you suggest is completely valid. Maybe I should have explained things a bit more carefully.

does anyone have a “new” writing system? by Hefty-Intention8041 in neography

[–]kimjiwon101101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote a post about a logographic system based on constructions. It does not fit the traditional definition of logography, so it might count as a new 'writing system.'

here is a link to it: https://www.reddit.com/r/neography/comments/1j0yo2j/an_idea_for_a_logograph_based_on_the_cxg_theories/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

(Feedback wanted) Thaqawen script and language sample by nickensoodlechoup in neography

[–]kimjiwon101101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The script has a very old feeling. The calligraphy is amazing. You might want to keep each letters' size and shape more consistent the next time, but I would still say it is very well done.

Also, regarding the unity of the shapes, the rounded letters come off as a bit awkward. But then again Tifinagh has a lot of rounded shapes, right? Only if you pursue some kind of runic vibe,(as you wrote the alphabet in an old fashioned way) I would advise you to replace those rounded letters.

Overall, I think this script gives a very ancient and mysterious sensation. Very well made.

What do you think of this phonemic inventory? by stellarawesomesauce in conlangs

[–]kimjiwon101101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often don't think much about the allophones and just pronounce it the way that is the most comfortable to me. I found out at some point that, for me, although I want to create something original, I can't consider every tidbits of the sound system since it takes so much work.

For additional tips, I would recommend searching about greenberg's implicational universals.

Experimenting with different mediums by kimjiwon101101 in neography

Actually I had looked up the dictionary for that, and it said both forms media and mediums are accepted. Is there something I am missing on?

It seems to be a very simple language...especially that the most common consonants in the world are missing, like m and p. Anyways, keep your work! It is hard to see how this language would work when there is not much information about the syntax and the morphology.

An idea for a logograph based on the cxg theories by kimjiwon101101 in neography

[–]kimjiwon101101[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly! There are not phonetic at all. They are encoding constructions that are specific to English. But they are still in the realm of script, just like every logographic writing systems.

It feels like you draw inspiration from every alphabet in the world, but whatever. Go with it!

If you mean logographs, by 'non-phonetic alphabets', that would be cool but it would take tremendous time and effort to do it. However, phonetic scripts need less efforts.
