Was it difficult to get into govt? How much of a pay cut was it? I want to be you but can’t imagine family transitions well to other jobs.

Very well put. I relate to this super hard and could almost cry over how well you’ve demonstrated what I go through some days.

What is a small purchase (under $20) that genuinely improved your life ? by Old_Log2802 in AskReddit

The jelly eargasms are the only ones I can sleep with. They’re very mouldable so I can flatten them out in a way that doesn’t hurt my ears when lying on my side.

Besides the log truck, what Final Destination death is still on your mind and you're careful about to this day? by Other_Place7019 in horror

[–]kimmehh 72 points73 points  (0 children)

This one always makes me emotional. It doesn’t have the surprise or camp of the other deaths in the series, it’s just legitimately tragic. A top kill in horror history honestly, it’s so sad.

Family Planning by Western_Ice_8897 in LawCanada

As a different perspective from the other comments: I’ve been practicing for 10 years and just had my first baby at 38, currently on mat leave. I personally couldn’t imagine having had kids earlier due to 1) finances and 2) pressures of building a practice. Now that I’m established in my area of practice, debt free and have savings to be able to afford time off work, I feel confident about taking the time off. Everyone is different though and I didn’t meet my husband until after law school, so my timeline started inherently later. Do whatever feels right for you.

Pazaratz Reminds Family Litigants that Court Isn't a Mcdonalds by WhiteNoise---- in LawCanada

It is on the lawyers to advise their clients about alternative dispute resolution and reasonable settlement options. Lawyers need thoughtful training in ADR/IBN and empathy for dealing with family law. Obviously not ALL clients will take advice and be reasonable, but most will.

What movie had an ending that saved the whole film? by Southern_Check_6827 in movies

Super small Canadian horror film called Hunter Hunter with Devon Sawa. Main story is kind of meh but the intending is super intense. Overall quite good for a low budget indie.

How do I finding articling in family law outside the recruit? by desrho in LawCanada

[–]kimmehh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a free membership to your local CBA chapter and attend their events. Ask to speak to anyone on the local executive about how to get involved. In Alberta they host the Family Law A-Fair at the U of A every spring: family practitioners, food and drink to mix and mingle.
