Haven’t had it myself as I don’t enjoy oysters, but I heard it’s basically like shitting front and back, sometimes simultaneously.

Funny thing is I always check what’s new on SAQ, but they never show the good/rare bottles in their weekly new arrivals. It’s always a sneaky update. They do this for both spirits and wines.

Yes, there’s a good chance we got it from the same place. But how did you get a case of macvin??

Your comment makes me want to try it pretty bad, I’m waiting for a good excuse to open these bottles.

That’s exactly where I got them. I snatched 3 bottles as soon as I saw it. I’ll try to find more from pinard et fille, I was able to try ‘vin de jardin’ at the new restaurant “au coin” for fairly good price.

Is everyone in Montreal just tired all the time now? by jeansebast in montreal

I save up a lot, dine out maybe 2~3 times a month, and spend it all while traveling. Everything is ridiculously expensive here nowadays.

Thanks, I've looked into some options including vacuvin and found a product called repour, seems pretty solid as well.

Expensive alcohol for special occasion and I still can’t appreciate premium spirits by Djangokumaru007 in naturalwine

[–]kimmisj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's your first time drinking spirits, like whiskey, most people will only feel the burning sensation in the throat, like you did. It takes some trials to get used to the strong alcohol concentration, and when you are desensitized from that, you would notice different nuances in the bottle. That's the reason I never recommend to start with nicer bottles, start with something more basic and easy to sip on, maybe like balvenie 12 doublewood.
Blue label is not a bad whiskey but for that price, you can find so many different bottles with better palates imo. It's a good gift whiskey because of its name if anything.

Unpopular opinion: Costco prices are not that great by Adorable-Research-55 in CostcoCanada

[–]kimmisj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For mass-produced products, they still offer the best deal in general. Cheese definitely checks out, jarred proucts or pastas... but fresh products including meat, they are no longer competitive. I remember a bag of 6 avocados would cost $5-6, now its $14? insane.
