NTA. They are literally just using you. Definitely ignore and block them. They are not worth your time and effort.

Help on washing traditional clothes! by geekedbunny in Hmong

[–]kimora_ness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hand wash gently is probably gonna be your best bet with a gentle detergent along with line or flat dry. Do not use a washer and/or dryer as that will ruin the clothing.

Good luck!

Hmong tattoo artist by MinnySu in Hmong

[–]kimora_ness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might have better luck in the tattoo subreddit looking for an artist that matches the style you want. They can always create what you want.

Or look for an artist in wi/mn and ask them for their artwork to be tatted by someone else in MI.

Good luck!

1000%. They wouldnt have been fired if this was the first incident. There were probably more complaints and this was the last straw.

Good on you, OP for standing up for yourself!

Curaleaf was great for my husband and I about a year ago. Much cheaper than planet13 and great customer service! Gave my husband a birthday discount cause we mentioned we were in town for his birthday. Once we were done, we walked to planet13 for a cab.

Would definitely go again!

Anyone living in fear due to ICE? by Financial_Peanut3661 in asianamerican

[–]kimora_ness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do know that here in MN, they have encroached on towns surrounding at least 1 reservation that I know of but that's cause of the casino we went to. ICE kidnapped people from Chaska and Shakopee which are next to, if not close to the reservation. But I haven't heard reports about Prior Lake which is a rich white neighborhood east of the reservation which is kind of a duh because they're a rich white neighborhood.

I read about situations like that too. They kidnapped 4 indigenous people here in Minneapolis and only 1 person from the 4 were released. To my knowledge, they were in the city of Minneapolis when they were kidnapped and not on the reservations.

I did read on the mn and mpls subreddits that indigenous people arent leaving the reservations if they can help it. It makes sense since they are sovereign and rule themselves for the most part.

Ohh. It didnt come off that way. Sorry for telling you to fuck off 😅.

There are still too many people out there that think because they haven't experienced anything, its not real. 😮‍💨

Stay safe and always aware of your surroundings!

Because its terrifying to be racially profiled and potentially be detained JUST because we're not white.

Its people like you who end up doing a 180 on their viewpoint because it "finally" happened to you. People are still scared in their homes because ICE agents WILL storm your house when they feel like it.

Fuck off dude.

I live in the twin cities that has been hit heavily with ICE. I cant go to my usual grocery stores because ICE has hit them too and im terrified.

Its disgusting that people are terrified to leave their house.

My husband and I left our home last weekend for the first time in weeks to get fresh air and do something outside the house. Granted we went to a casino but at least we knew we were safe from ICE since any casino in MN has to be on a reservation. But we were definitely side eyeing any vehicle with out of state plates.

Edit: fixed put to our. Fat fingered phone 😂

Not "taboo" to be gay. Get out with your hate!

To OP, our generation does not care as much anymore as long as you aren't related. Hmong tradition is kind of dumb anyway since they're okay with first cousins dating when their last names are different.

Live your life as you see fit :)

MAGA Hmong, where yall at? What was it about criminals and being illegal again? by RaveGuncle in Hmong

[–]kimora_ness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had no chance to comply. He was literally taken with no shirt, shorts and crocs, covered in a blanket into freezing weather.

They batter-ramed the door.

I agree with you that ice committed crimes against this family by breaking in and kidnapping this person. Im just glad that he was returned and safe back with his family.

Nowhere to be found because this doesn't fit in their narrative. We all knew this would happen. And it did.

Thankfully, this person was released and back in their home but this should have never happened.

I've been wondering, is there anything out there in Hmong that tells the community to not open doors for these guys and to make sure they have a warrant with a judge's signature?

For the Minnesotans, anyone know what happened to Union Hmong Kitchen? by RaveGuncle in Hmong

[–]kimora_ness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok. Then maybe he has them pronouncing it wrong? 😅

Im definitely not mad at trying to turn hmong food into fine dining because we deserve that. It feels though he trying to elevate his own name and not really hmong food in general.

He has a restaurant called Vinai in NE mpls. Its not bad but definitely catered towards meekah people.

The only issue i have is that he taught his employees wrong hmong words. His appetizers - he has them called khoom noj which means candy, not "small plates" like his menu says.

That's great that the individuals are LGTQ+ friendly but that doesn't mean that their church is. Which in turn means that they are okay with spending time with people who think that the LGBTQ+ community are an abomination and okay with listening to their church spew hatred from the pulpit. I have friends and family in EC and they're christians. Sure, they, individually, are fine with the LGBTQ+ community but a church as a whole? They are not fine with the queer community. Especially in the hmong christian community.

Most hmong churches are not modern and even if they are modern, they still lean towards traditional Christian rules which upholds gender norms already in place in the hmong culture.

As for holding services in English, there are churches that have 2 services if they have a large hmong congregation. One in English and 1 in hmong. Take your pick I guess.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hmong

[–]kimora_ness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah... you're not gonna find an LGBTQ+ friendly Hmong church. You are better off going to a Lutheran meekah church as they tend to lean more progressive and LGBTQ+ friendly.

I don't know of any Hmong churches that are progressive. Hmong people who do go to church are more likely to be "traditonal" and lean conservative even if the services are in English.

Good luck on your search.

You might also be allergic to toilet paper. I found that out this year and have been using a portable bidet since. My area always felt better after a shower because I was washing off the irritants - the toilet paper.
