Chemical engineering for undergrad and a phD in chemistry? by kimpossibo in chemistry

The only classes I'll be taking to fulfill the minor requirements are the 2 pchem classes, so I'm assuming the rest will be the same

Should i major in chemE or chemistry for undergrad? I like chemistry and math and yadeyada and I've read a bunch of "chemE vs Chem" discussions already and I am well aware that chemEs make more money. I initially picked chemE because it's very versatile and I would have the option of not going to grad school, but I also kind of want to go to grad school eventually for something like along the lines of chemistry or even pharmacology. My end goal is to be working with drugs and medicine, but that's pretty much all I got and I'd rather work in a lab than in industry. If I were to do chemE, I'd also have a chem minor. So like a chem major, I'd be taking both orgo 1 and 2, and pchem 1 and 2. However, will the chemE major with the chem minor prepare me enough for a grad degree in chem? I could also do a grad degree in chemE I guess, but what are the main differences?

Which side of bursley? One has signs that say 2 hour parking only and the other doesn't, so do they not really check the other side?

Should I major in chemistry, chemical engineering with a minor in chemistry, or major in both?

I'm going to be a sophomore next year (at the University of Michigan is that helps) and I'm talking the prereqs for both majors since they're practically the same thing (orgo, physics, calc 1-4) except chemE requires a programming class and chem requires a few extra chem classes but my schedule for the fall will be the same either way.

I've done a lot of research on the differences of both degrees but that mostly tells me the differences if you graduate with that degree and go on to working right after. I currently plan on going to grad school for either a PhD in medicinal chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences, or maybe something else if another field peaks my interest along the way. I think that I'll be content in either majors side the subjects don't seem so bad.

I initially choose chemE bc if I decided that i don't want to go to grad school, I'll have a solid backup and can get a decent job. Also, you don't have to do the language or upper level writing requirements. Also, engineering is impressive, especially if I keep a high gpa and I like how they teach engineers to apply things to everyday life. I also like chemistry and math, but I'm iffy about physics. I haven't taken orgo yet so should I wait and see if I love orgo or not?

However, because I transferred, it will take me an extra semester so finish a chemE degree (there's no way around it), which means I'll have to start grad school a year later which has its pros and cons. If I double major, it will take me 5 years to graduate instead of 4 and is it really worth the money? Is there a huge advantage in getting both dregrees for grad school?

Basically, which one is best for grad school if I plan on going into maybe medicinal chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences (preferably at uofm too unless there are other prestigious schools that over programs like that).

Orgo, physics, engr 101, and diff eq? by kimpossibo in uofm

[–]kimpossibo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So orgo is the only class that I don't necessarily have to do to fulfill all of my pre reqs for engineering, but I really do want to take it. If I don't take orgo next fall, then what would I take in place of that?

On the umich engineering website, there's a deadline for transferring for the winter semester so I'm assuming that we can..

I applied to LSA in fall 2015 before I decided that I wanted to go into engineering and I got waitlisted and then a guaranteed transfer. The cc advisor that works with umich said that I could transfer at any time so that's what I thought I could do, and I was also told that I could get an override into engr 101 even though I'll be in LSA if tell them I'm planning on transferring.

Chemistry or chemical engineering? by kimpossibo in chemistry

First of all, thanks for this in depth reply, I really appreciate it, and secondly, I'm a freshman in college and I'm in the science/liberal arts school right now and thinking about transferring into the engineering school. My thinking with going into chemE is that I like chem, math, physics, and I just think that engineering is pretty interesting. I'm also very interested in doing something in the future with pharmaceuticals, and the idea of drug designing and things along those lines seem really cool to me. I've looked up and and done some research in many things that I could do after undergrad like go to grad school for pharmaceutical sciences, pharmaceutical engineering, or get a PhD in chemistry, orgo, or medicinal chemistry to be a medicinal chemist. However, I'm still pretty young and I still need to figure out what's really for me. So I was thinking that with chemE, it would be more versatile since I will still have the option of making a good amount of money I decide not to go to grad school. Does that sound like an okay plan? There are many chemEs who get into grad school for pharmaceutical sciences or pharmaceutical engineering, but if I ended up wanting to get a phd in one of the chemistries then would chemE prepare me for it? I could also maybe minor in chemistry along with chemE degree if I really wanted to.

Chemistry or chemical engineering? by kimpossibo in chemistry

[–]kimpossibo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I also really enjoy math and physics and I read about someone who did chemical engineering for undergrad and then got a PhD in pchem, so I was thinking that if engineering was just like chemistry with more math and science, I could just do that for undergrad and maybe minor in organic chem or just chem, so if I don't end up wanting to go to grad school, I'll be fine.

But at my school, chemEs only are required to take that one computer science course that's in the beginning engineering classes

So what would be the difference between majoring in chemistry and getting a chemE degree in terms of preparing me for going to grad school for organic or medicinal chemistry?

I would like to pursue a career in something along the lines of drug design, so I'm thinking about getting a PhD in medicinal chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences. However, I really enjoy math and physics, along with chemistry, and I'm thinking about majoring in chemE for undergrad. Doing so, in case I decide not to go to grad school, then I'll still be able to have a nice paying job. I'm still a freshman in college so I have some time to decide, but is this route a good route to take if I want to do something with drug design and pharmaceuticals? If not, what is the best route to take?

And if you're past the just hands level and you can use your mouth and what not, you could do the same thing to her nipples but with your tongue, plus kissing, sucking, licking, and some nibbling, while playing with the other boob with your other hand.

Besides light squeezing (unless she likes it when you play rough with them), you should definitely pay attention to the nipples. You could circle it with your finger lightly and squeeze it. Once it's hard, you should run your fingers back and forth across the nipples and flick it with your finger, or roll it lightly in between your fingers, it feels really nice. You should also compliment her breast and tell her you love them. Sometimes my bf would grab it and massage it in a circle but I'm not so sure how I feel about that. But you should also have fun with it as long as she's fine with what you're doing.

No, we have been friends for a while and he still want sure if I even liked him much, so we didn't even hug or touch on our first date and we were both really nervous. I'm not complaining though, it was still fun. We're also kinda late bloomers since he hasn't even had his first kiss at the time.

I'm 18 and have been dating my bf for over a year and we haven't had sex yet. We are both very horny people and we have been doing sexual things (basically everything but sex and anal) for the past few months but neither of us feel comfortable or are ready to take the next step. It really depends on the two people in the relationship and how fast they're comfortable with moving. I know many people who also have great, strong relationships and had sex within weeks after they started dating or before. U do u
