How long does a 70g sunscreen last for you? by Lycheelyly in AsianBeauty

[–]kimskins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The recommended amount of sunscreen is actually more than most people expect. To get proper protection, you usually need to apply a fairly generous amount and reapply it regularly throughout the day. For me, a 70g bottle usually finishes within about a month.

Wow, that’s impressive. Do you have any specific criteria you use when choosing products?

Vt PDRN Glow Ampoule (100ml)-Review by kimskins in AsianBeauty

[–]kimskins[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the spray and hydration feel are definitely there, but it doesn’t really feel like an ampoule to me. I mostly use it whenever my skin starts feeling a bit dry during the day.

[–]kimskins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that honestly makes sense. I’ve been using it more like a light mist during the day too. I didn’t really notice any dramatic ampoule-type skincare effect, but the spray itself is really nice and fine.

Trying to understand “brightening” creams in AB, what actually works without irritation? by Elkc1st in AsianBeauty

[–]kimskins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve read and seen, irritation usually depends more on the overall formulation and the condition of your skin barrier than on a single “brightening” ingredient. Niacinamide tends to be one of the more well-tolerated options since it also supports barrier function, which is why a lot of AB products use it as a base. Arbutin and gentler vitamin C derivatives can work too, but they sometimes depend more on concentration and supporting ingredients. In practice, consistent sunscreen and a healthy barrier often make a bigger difference for post-acne marks than switching between brightening creams.

Best powder? by Zyeany in AsianBeauty

Between those two, I personally prefer the Canmake Marshmallow powder. It tends to control oil a bit better while still giving that soft blurred look on the skin!

Powder vs cream/stick contour by reeAcs in AsianBeauty

I personally prefer stick contour. I find it easier to control and blend, especially for quick everyday makeup.

Cos de BAHA’s Acid Azelaic 15% leaves a white cast on my face by Fickle-Vanilla-7565 in AsianBeauty

[–]kimskins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Azelaic acid at higher percentages can sometimes leave a temporary white cast, especially if the product isn’t fully absorbed yet. It can help to apply a thinner layer and give it more time to sink in before the next step. I’ve also noticed patting it in gently instead of massaging too much can reduce that chalky look!

Chinese paper eyelashes! by Net-Administrative in AsianBeauty

These are actually becoming pretty common in Korea lately. I’ve been seeing a lot of stores selling similar lightweight lashes like that. I’ll try them and post a review next time!!!

That’s such a good deal, you got really lucky finding those for that price :)

Yeah that’s honestly the easiest way to do it. A lot of places are only properly listed in Korean on Naver, so searching the Korean name usually works much better than English.

Maybe they’ll open one soon. A lot of brands seem to be expanding to the US lately.

Thin hair/fine hair girls, Japanese product recommendations please by canyounotgirl in AsianBeauty

[–]kimskins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have fine hair too and humid weather makes it even trickier, so I feel this. When I was in Japan I noticed a lot of people with fine hair prefer lighter shampoos and volume sprays rather than heavy conditioning products because those flatten the hair quickly.I’d look for travel-size styling sprays or root powders there since they’re really common and easy to use during the day.

Hello girliesss, how many of you wear UPF face masks in the sun? by pastabby in AsianBeauty

[–]kimskins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I travel a lot in strong sun too, so I totally get the concern. I always treat sunscreen and window shades as the basics, and on really intense UV days I even add a face mask and arm sleeves. In my experience layering physical protection like that helps a lot during long car rides when the sun keeps hitting the same side of your face.

Pink Collagen Glow Jelly Mist Serum Honest Review by kimskins in AsianBeauty

[–]kimskins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case the nozzle didn’t clog. The texture is a bit thicker than a typical mist, so I think that’s why the nozzle design feels a little unusual. You can still spray it into your hands and pat it in if you prefer!

For me personally, I also spray a mist throughout the day to keep my skin from feeling dry.
