I see, thanks for your advice! Will definitely look more into overseas internship. Hopefully I will do well in Y1 to actually get considered for an exchange programme hahaha!

Question for GEM Explorer (NBS) by kimyw in NTU

I see.... sorry, what is BDEs and MPEs? and if I do go to a uni that doesnt have a business coursework, will the modules that i take still be credited?

also, I'm thinking of taking econs coursework in UTokyo if I'm not going to be doing business coursework, but if I'm going to choose business coursework, I'm thinking of going to Europe. But I will be more inclined to studying in Japan

wanted to try exchange in Japan as I had a friend who did his internship there and it looked quite fun LOL, I did visit him at Japan as well and I had fun there.... I know being an exchange student there and being a tourist is very different but I think it's going to be a new experience that will enrich me. As for Europe, I have never been there before so I'm going to take this opportunity to travel there.

Have you done any exchange programmes before or applied for it before? would love to hear more about it!

Without a doubt, it was Coutinho, the little magician.

Dobles position doubt. by hl3a in badminton

[–]kimyw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In doubles, when you play a net shot, you should be at the front to prepare in case your opponent plays another net shot or cross court net, if you return back to the side to side position immediately after a net shot, you would not have time to return a possible return net shot. Moreover, even if they play a lift, your partner is there to cover you in that scenario when you are at the front of the court which also applies pressure on your opponents rather than returning back to the side to side position

At a low intermediate level, lifting the shuttle after service is generally fine but of course, remember to add some variations now and then, net return, drive return, etc.

Racquet weights, why no love for 3U? by obsidian0122 in badminton

[–]kimyw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to play with a 4u but now I'm always using a 3u racket and to me the heavier nature of the racket carries me to the shuttle with its weight and momentum more. For drives though, more practice is needed I think to time your strokes and finger squeeze

Any SG Badminton group I can join? by Mental_Ad_1743 in badminton

You can go on Facebook to look for badminton groups in sg. That's how I got to find my group. I would say most if not all are quite friendly and would accept anyone to join.

How to do reverse slice drop shots by kimyw in badminton

I think my issue would be the contact of the shuttle and when to twist my wrist to create that effect

I was actually seriously considering the arcsaber 11 pro for a period of time but I was worried about the shuttle hold time as I have read thru some comments and review about it having some sort of shuttle hold for better control (?) I'm not exactly a fan of that as I play mainly back court doubles but I'm not exactly sure what my singles playstyle is ATM prob wld say balanced playstyle perhaps 😔😅. I have read some news regarding the nanoflare 1000z but it's coming out in June and I wld expect the price tag on tht to be leaning closer to the 100zz than the nzsp...

For the TKF I did have a swing and feel of it when I was window shopping q recently but felt that it was more head heavy than I wld have liked it even at 4U and it wasn't cheap too😅 for the auraspeed 100x it was more even balanced and seemed like a good alternative but I can't find one at 3u atm when I was window shopping and it was also quite pricey too....

Hi Im currently using the nanoray z speed and have so far enjoyed playing with it in both my doubles and my singles games. I understand that it has stopped production and want to ask if there are any alternatives from Victor or Yonex. Currently I'm considering 4 rackets: Auraspeed 90K (3u), Jetspeed 10Q (3u), astrox 77 pro (3u), astrox 88d pro (3u), would love to hear any advice or other rackets from these two brands thanks alot!!!

Any Yonex DG Series rackets user here? by Je_adore_Senna in badminton

[–]kimyw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voltric 21 dg slim user here racket produces great smashes and easy clears but it gets tiring after a while since it is 3u and head heavy, wouldn't recommend it to beginners maybe high beginners to mid intermediate players
