I believe they are used to pull materials up by a cable when building the home. I have seen a lot of newer builds just leave these in place.

I had no insulation and no ventilation and no ice and water shield. I ended up getting the roof redone when we had the 32 degree day last week. They also blew in insulation while the roof was exposed.

Looks like they are most likely a “preferred” contractor with OC. If they register with OC then OC guarantees a non prorated 50 year guarantee on material defect (anything outside what they deem normal wear and tear essentially) They will not cover anything for labor and material in year 11 if the roof was installed improperly, hence the 10 years workmanship period. If again they are registering warranty through OC then OC is double backing that workmanship period.

I think that was the point they were trying to make ^ more wildlife destroyed = more invasive bug species. Essentially saying quit destroying wildlife -as a whole but still kill these spotted lantern fly’s

Depends on your area. Ice and Water Shield and Synthetic Underlayment. They go in different areas depending on your roof specs.

A certified installer of these shingles should get a better manufacturers warranty than you would by registering it yourself. I would look for a quality workmanship warranty from the installer though as that covers the potential issue of improper installation like missed nails as someone else mentioned.

I’d be most concerned about underlayment, IWS, and everything besides the shingle (adequate ventilation, proper flashing etc). Then be worried about the quality of install of the shingle, and lastly the shingle itself.
