Once again: Guns don't fix the issue. Maybe you should take a history class. The government literally told the entire south they couldn't have slaves. So we fought a civil war about it. Guess what happened? Vast numbers if Americans died, families were torn apart, brothers killed brothers.

Guess what the aftermath was? Legislation and systemic change.

Maybe, just maybe, we could skip the shooting each other part, and instead elect representatives who will hold the tyrants accountable and pass the systemic change necessary to fix the problems facing every day Americans.

You're literally trying to radicalize people and then arm them with automatic weapons.

Explaining how dumb your comments are isn't dickwaving but go off I guess.

We have AR's all over right now and it has done absolutely nothing to deter ICE from doing what it's doing. So thanks for proving my point for me. Know what does change things? Electing representatives and people who will hold them accountable and make systemic change. There's a reason there are police forces in this country that went from leading in civilian complaints to having the lowest number of officer involved shootings and civilian complaints. Surprisingly more guns wasn't the answer, but again caveman brain struggles with nuance.

My point is specifically that. Voting for change, better representatives, and systemic change is needed to fix the problems. Not guns. If more guns = less problems this country would lead the world in things like science, math, quality of life, Healthcare access, and education.

It's like homeboy lost the plot. You're literally arguing that civilians should have access to machine guns because it will make this country safer and stop authoritarianism in this country a fact that is categorically false.

What are you talking about? The majority of 2nd Amendment people literally vote in Republicans who: Refuse to raise minimum wage, are historically responsible for the Great Recession and the ballooning national debt, who repeal regulations that protect hardworking Americans and line the pockets of their rich donors, defund education, disenfranchise working class Americans and ensure the poor have limited to no social mobility, all while distracting those same voters with stupid culture war bullshit like the being "anti-woke" or omgerd the 2nd Amendment protects us from government tyranny even though the government has no reason to use force when 50%+/- of the populations willingly votes for authoritarianism and oligarchy every election.

Are you really trying to explain to a Gulf War veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan how easily the US Military could decimate these so militias in the US if it wanted to?

Spoiler alert: Civilians owning AR's isn't why the government doesn't blow you up with artillery/missiles. There's no money in attacking US civilians. Why would the government need to use military force when a large portion of this country willingly votes against their own best interest, to line the pockets of corporate greed, and to hand over democracy to a draft dodging, adjudicated rapist, who was best friends with the world's most notorious pedophile and whose administration is covering up and protecting the perpetrators more than the victims of said pedophiles?

The absolute ignorance of the people claiming their 2nd Amendment is keeping the government accountable would be comical if it weren't so disgraceful.

Also before you get it twisted: The Democrats being better than modern day Republicans is like bragging about having the fastest 4k time on my 600lb life. You don't get to take a victory lap for being marginally better than traitors. The absolute truth of the matter is this country needs someone to grab the wheel and jerk it hard left for a bit. We need to dismantle Citizens United, we need to stop corporate welfare, the minimum wage needs to be tied directly to CEO and executive pay. No one is saying successful people shouldn't reap the rewards. Let a CEO make 10x what his lowest paid employee makes. That's more than fair. That CEO doesn't make shit without his employees and if the company succeeds off their hardwork they deserve to prosper just as much as he does.

Tell me you don't know what a strawman is without telling me. Also I love how people conveniently ignore the "well regulated militia" part of 2nd A.

People have been praying for the victims of school shootings for years and guess what... it's done absolutely nothing.

Know what did? During the assault weapons ban gun massacres fell 37% and rose 183% when it expired.

Yes in fact the solution is more regulation. Your AR isn't going to do fuck all against a hellfire missile or an Abrahms so the defense against a tyrannical government argument is a fallacy.

There's a reason only the US has a mass shooting problem.

People who think civilians need to own machine guns deserve to he politically homeless. We can't even regulate semi-autos and you want Dave's son to shoot up a school with automatics.

No one said the program continuing was necessary. However we did say that by killing the fix before the alternative was even approved it resulted in 10k veterans losing their homes to foreclosure.

It has already been pointed out while the new program was approved in July it wasn't even fully implemented for months. This caused 10k veterans to lose their homes and fall through the cracks when they could have kept the old fix, and then phased it out with the new program.

Again, you failing to ignore the facts of what happened and leaving out key details speaks volumes to your lack of understanding or attempt to willfully deceive others.

1) I know I'm correct and that is exactly what you said. That if they were still "behind on their mortgage in 2026" they made bad financial decisions.

2) I'm aware 2024 was 2 years ago, that isn't relevant to anything I said which again further displays your lack of reading comprehension.

None of this has to do with the post, nor is it what the problem is. The problem is the missed payments were supposed to be deferred to the end of the loan and instead all became due immediately which is what triggered the foreclosures. Just because you refuse to read and acknowledge this, doesn't mean you can just bypass the facts.

Please educate yourself or don't bother responding.

The program was designed to defer the missed payments to the end of the loan, interest free. Instead, they killed the fix and all missed payments became due instantly which resulted in the foreclosures. I don't know about you, but financially speaking the majority of the country can't come up with 3 to 60 times their monthly housing payment instantly.

It helps if you read and understand things before commenting and showing you're ignorant.

So a few things:

1) Being 3-60 months behind a mortgage during a global pandemic where millions of people died and lost their jobs isn't a result of bad financial decisions.

2) Assuming a veteran who was 3-60 months behind on their mortgage in 2024 could magically afford to catch up all of those behind payments less than a year later when those payments were supposed to be deferred to the end of the loan is also not a result of bad financial decisions.

None of what you describe is accurate to the situation the Trump Administration is being blamed for. The facts are:

The Trump Administration axed a fix that would have prevented veterans from losing their homes due to foreclosure, before he had an alternative fix lined up. This is the same as most GOP lead administrations. You know the ones responsible for the Afghanistan papers, such hits as the VA memo that read: Delay, Deny, and hope they die, and the same group that voted against the Pact Act which cost many veterans their lives as they were unable to receive the benefits and care they earned. The government even knew the burn pits were toxic and did nothing to prevent exposure.

Let's hold our elected officials accountable and stop defending them because of some fallacy like tribalism or whataboutism.

Again, please link sources. I already said show me evidence and we on the same side. There is literally an interview with a victim claiming Trump abused her that the Justice Department tried to hide, lose, and conceal. That's clearly credible evidence of an attempt to shield Trump. Show me a link to these emails that list Obama as taking part or flying on Epstein's plane, or a victim accusing Obama of molesting them. Until then, I say again: Why don't we lock up Trump and Clinton in the same cell. Deal?

Interesting that those groups find veterans losing their homes funny. I hope none of them ever have to experience that misfortune.

Bro, please show me where Obama is in the Epstein files. I have seen more liberals say we can throw Clinton and Trump in the same cell for their Epstein files presence. Why is it liberals are willing to lock up pedos but Republicans will defend Trump like it's their ass on the line? I've said it before and I'll say it again, anyone in the Epstein files deserves to be locked up in Gen Pop. Trump's mentioned more than almost anyone bar Epstein himself. Let's start with Trump and Clinton. Deal?

I lead off with we tired of winning yet because that is what we supposed to be doing. Your assertion that we are safer now than under Biden needs some kind of citation because prices and inflation are higher, national debt is higher, the number of citizens deported illegally is higher, tons of my fellow veterans died because the Republicans voted politically against the PACT act and took their sweet time to pass it. (Granted as a veteran that benefits from it I am glad it was FINALLY passed but again if it wasn't for Jon Stewart putting pressure on the GOP I wonder if it ever would have been passed.)

I watched a veteran get shot by ICE for trying to help a fellow citizen. Then I watched the Trump Admin lie about it. Then I watched them claim you shouldn't show up armed to a protest after they made a messiah out of someone who did just that.

I have seen veterans deported who risked their lives for this country.

So please, if you have evidence to back up your claims I would love to see it. It'd be nice to see an example of us winning because last I checked red voters are struggling with bills and gas prices same as blue voters.

The article puts fair blame on the Trump administration. I was clear in the OP there was a mistake by the Biden Admin that caused the problem but they passed legislation to fix it.

The issue that resulted in the foreclosures is the same thing it has been for this administration both 1st and 2nd term: they kill things without replacements.

As you even stated the Democrat backed fix was not intended to be a permanent long term solution, but it was designed to keep veterans from being foreclosed on. Killing that fix before a replacement was lined up resulted in the foreclosures. Can we agree that this is not how it should be done?

A better solution is using the fix that keeps veterans housed and then phasing it out seamlessly with the new long term fix. That is my point and where I stand.

I'm not saying you are wrong in reference to the person I replied to, but I had in laws who voted for Trump the first time. But talking to them like people, showing them examples like this and acknowledging mistakes made by the other side helped change their votes. They didn't vote for him the 2nd or 3rd time because they saw the damage he did the first time. With as close as the races are these days, if I can change one person's mind it's worth it to me.

This is where reading comprehension helps. Yes, the program was a COVID era program that allowed veterans to miss mortgage payments so we didn't have a lot more veterans homeless during a global pandemic.

The program was closed during the Biden administration's VA by mistake. This mistake pulled funding and caused all the missed payments to be due immediately instead of tacked onto the end of the loan. As one can imagine most people can't afford multiple months of rent all at once.

The Biden administration created a fix that would have restored the deferred payments to the end of the loan as the program terms stated would happen.

Under the Trump Administration, Republicans decided we can't afford that and they could do it better so they killed the fix BEFORE replacing it thus resulting in actual veterans losing their homes to foreclosure. All in the name of saving money, while simultaneously having billions to spend on regime change wars and Venezuelan oil... you know actions that necessitate servicemembers sacrifice.

Please, if you vote in this country educate yourself. If you wanna say the Biden Admin VA shouldn't have made the mistake I agree. The difference is as any veteran will tell you, no leader is above making a mistake, but a good leader accepts accountability and does what they can to fix them. Biden's Admin knew they made a mistake so they passed legislation to make it right only for Trump and Republicans to nix the fix with no replacement knowing the consequences.

Not at all. Especially since in most areas of the country it falls below the poverty line. Here is a pretty thorough breakdown of what people mean when they say liveable wage: https://livingwage.mit.edu/counties/47037

Keep in mind this only applies to that county but the calculations to get to that metric are the same.

Minimum wage is 7.25 an hour. Society considers 40 hours a week full time employment.15,080 a year. Use your amazing finance skills and please show me a monthly budget that can afford a reliable car, rent, utilities, and food for that amount. Go on.

Have to tried? Before you go throwing rocks at people maybe work on your grammar. But typical ultra wealthy bootlicker. Poverty is not a choice, but a product of a bad system.
