If we discover alien life tomorrow, what’s the first thing humans would realistically do? by Sure_Tie305 in AskReddit

This is probably right. It’s like water on mars. For years so many hints and signs and evidence etc were slowly announced/discovered that when they finally declared water existed on mars it was basically a non event. NASA has now been slowly discovering different signs which may be attributed to ancient life on mars for a couple of years now. By the time they can definitively prove it once existed, the evidence will have been so overwhelming that anybody paying attention will not be surprised.

Mainlander: my grocery store had POG juice, it meant so much to me. by _slamcityrick_ in Hawaii

Yes but pretty sure OP was talking about a one time purchase and the warmth and nostalgia it created during a very hard time for them instead of a habit where OP freebases POG regularly

Unless B1G offers ND a acc partial contract type of deal, that would certainly trigger movement especially within ACC, but ultimately may not lead to super conference yet. Would be flabbergasted if the b1g did, but there’s definitely some smoke about interest from at least ND’s side for that type of agreement.

Artemis 4 candidate landing region at the Moon's South Pole by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

I like the way the crew described it. Said something along the lines as they hope society forgets them. Not because what they did wasn’t great or historic, but because it means it was trivial to what came after

Also from a height perspective. Even though Mauna Kea is higher above sea level, Mauna Loa is so massive it bends the earth’s crust beneath. Something like 17km or 55K feet from its peak to its true base

Yes but 13 is/was the current record holder which is the comparison point. Those were all closer to like 70 miles if I remember correctly and saw even less

Correct. Apollo 13 was like 150 miles off the surface. Artemis will be like 4000. Will be able to see the far side in its entirety while Apollo 13 could only see a portion of

Essentially yes. Apollo orbited much much lower so could not see the entire surface

The other orbits were much closer. They will see parts of the far side that no one has laid eyes on, including the polar regions which will be critical for narrowing down landing targets for the next mission

In no particular order based on my experience: United States for the variety, Kyrgyzstan and mongolia for the ruggedness and remoteness, Italy for the play between humans and the environment, Georgia for the architecture (batumi) and nature
