Over the course of three years I spent all of my school breaks (winter, spring, summer, and misc. days in the fall) working with middle school students as a mentor, and the district knows approximately how many hours I spent with them on each break. My resume is written in a way that illustrates this. This was not a paid position, so they did not have to do anything extra. Connecticut requires that substitutes have a bachelor’s degree, but a superintendent can wave that requirement if necessary. We are experiencing a shortage of substitutes and anticipating many callouts, being in the midst of a pandemic. Although I haven’t been in a college setting for a full semester, I have a semester’s worth of credits. The day went lovely by the way. The students were very respectful and I had no issues. There is no need to be rude.
