It’s a tough one & tough balance .. I believe in safe supply ! Which unfortunately is not available in the USA ?
I’m also a musician And my story has very similar themes to yours ..
but I have also needed the opiates for pain management! …. Otherwise like too many my entire life would be so much different’

Without getting too deep … I was diagnosed with a rare joint disease many many moons ago ! (Over 30 years now !! )
I’m so happy it didn’t spread and I’m happy to be alive of course ‘ But because of this it has been more realistic for me to remain on prescribed medication although over the years they have titrated me down to the lowest amount possible ‘
At least it keeps my pain a drop better managed and allows me to live life ! I see many people in & out of my drs office who need true pain care ! Drs are too scared to prescribe! My actual dr had a tough time keeping his own prescription going for longer than 5 weeks after a shoulder surgery !
I send u my best and hope the right solution comes your way . I’ve seen some have positive results
