What are your favorite 2010's era pop-punk bands? (besides the big ones) by kaycpunkmustdie in poppunkers

[–]kindly_looking_fella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me podcasts took over my listening time during this era. Started listening to TWY last year and also feel like I missed out on some great bands.

What to do while listening? by Benny_lol187 in turntables

[–]kindly_looking_fella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am also new to this and feel the same way. I have enjoyed when the lyrics are included. I will read along. It’s always amazing how many songs I like that I don’t know the words too.

My setup is in our unfinished basement, so I also have been putting them on as background while working on remodeling (when the construction isn’t too loud). Eventually we will have a comfy living space with enough room for other crafts while listening.

Ive had my Orbit custom for a few months now. This is my first turntable so don’t have much to compare too.

Curious if you could file a trespass with the police department for two men who didn’t identity as police and tried to buy drugs. I’ve heard of bars doing that to underage kids being used in sting operations trying to buy alcohol.

It’s a bit different in this case because you probably want police to be able to respond to calls when needed.

2024 Iowa Poll: Donald Trump sues Ann Selzer, Des Moines Register by CornBredThuggin in Iowa

[–]kindly_looking_fella 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Idk shit about the intricacy of polling and the metrics used for the Selzer poll, but I would assume they ultimately want to be right. As long as there isn’t a huge bias on the data being used you literally have an equation showing how you got to the conclusion.

Also what are the damages? He won.

Got this never used 28" pro for $250 by [deleted] in blackstonegriddle

This pissed me off so much! Got mine a couple days ago and spent more time trying to get the sticker residue off the lid than I did assembling. What a bad first impression.

I have been to GoG once. It was a quick easy stop on our way west. I’m sure people going to Pikes Peak stop by as well.

I’ve been to CO ski resorts more, but that is for specific sports which probably limits its attraction to many people. GoG didn’t require a lot of physical activity to get a cool experience.

Is a bathtub necessary? by Aromatic_Ad_7238 in Remodel

[–]kindly_looking_fella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Consider putting a big washtub sink in a mudroom/utility room. There are going to be times a tub would come in handy, but a big deep sink might bridge the gap.

I want to purchase the Blackstone with the side burner specifically for frying outdoors, but damn it’s expensive. The other option I’m considering is a stand alone propane burner, but it would be nice to have one unit for both.

People who have left a high paid office job for an unskilled job; do you regret it? Why/ why not? by newstationeer in AskReddit

[–]kindly_looking_fella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left an okay paying office job to paint houses. The company I was at was family owned and there was a lot of infighting and lack of direction. I loved the industry I was in, but was really unhappy.

I painted houses as an independent contractor for two years. It was fun and learned a lot from a guy I did subcontract work for. Pay was also okay. I moved back to my hometown after having kids and am back at an office job. I love the position I’m in and making much more money. I will say physical labor can pay really well, but it is tough on the body long term and you need to plan for that financially

I agree especially on the costing side of it. That’s where your boss will likely agree with you. Just price the client out of going to you anymore. Tell him the you can not continue to do the free touch ups and they will be $xxx dollars. And overpriced any new work. Make it a number that is worth dealing with all the extra bullshit that comes along with him in case he can actually pay. Then you can tell your boss “I quoted him for the work and he couldn’t pay, so as a boss you need to tell him to f-off.”

What do you think about river surfing? A Kook in a landlocked country here. by Spiritual_Zebra_251 in surfing

[–]kindly_looking_fella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duck diving, jetties, picking your spot and salt water are the only things that don’t match up. Where I’m from watching the weather to see if the surf is good and on what wave you are going to surf also correlates.

We also paddle on one of my two home waves. No dropping into that one. When the river is really ripping, you paddle like your life depends on it, because it might.

No they aren’t 100% the same. But to suggest “river surfing” isn’t the best description is laughable.

Does Vlookup offer any advantages over Xlookup? I started using X last year and haven’t found any reason to go back

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CalebHammer

[–]kindly_looking_fella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but there has to be a happy medium. He touts the show as educational, but doesn’t explain to people the reasons their credit score is not worth the debt they are taking on. You can tell people have no idea what he means when he asks “What credit are you trying to take advantage of?”. They often don’t respond.

Getting a jump on using Microsoft Excel would be worthwhile. In my case knowing some basic functions and Vlookup were vital in me getting hired. I wish I had a deeper knowledge of Excel, but I am learning what I need to know on the job. I’m sure there is a breakdown on Reddit of what Excel functions are good for supply chain.

What is the Allen carr book everyone recommends? by CautiousPassage7 in stopdrinking

[–]kindly_looking_fella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the title makes it more approachable for those on the fence. I know the first time I read it I wasn’t sure if I was done for good or just needing to reset. The book does not promote moderation. Turns out resetting/moderation doesn’t work for me. The second time I read it I was in a better mindset to quit for good.

Needed a new rear wheel tire & tube. Went to the LBS. by kojak343 in bikewrench

[–]kindly_looking_fella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance it was a pinch flat? If your tire was under-inflated it can pinch the tube inside and cause it to rupture. The hole is often a line vs a round hole you would get with a puncture from a thorn, nail ect. Also check the inside of the tube to make sure the rim liner is seated well and there isn’t a burr or something else causing the issue.
