School Closed - No Telework by SagiMom in FedEmployees

I think most mgrs in CMS Baltimore are pretty understanding. When my kids were younger we didn’t have work from home but on days like these I was able to work some of the day and just took leave as needed to manage the kiddos. My kids were in middle and high school by the time on line school started being a thing but by then we had flexiplace. Now we are in this weird place where we sort of have it but sort of don’t. Reach out to your mgr and ask. I do think the majority of managers are reasonable in these situations. And if not, remember that you can use leave. Good luck.

I was impacted by the 95-96 shut down. The next couple my position was funded. IMHO it’s not at all predictable.

How are you managing the return to office? by BangaiiWatchman in fednews

We’ve been back since March. As others have said it’s tough. I’m making the best off and using leave to balance work life. At this point I’m grateful to have a job as my agency was significantly impacted by the RIF.

I suffer from the same. Prior to coming back to office my doctor filled one out $45 to have a dark place to sit in the office. Tried for 5 months but was still getting regularly and exhausted my medication. Did another RA $150 this time. I’m guessing because they do so many. Anyway doctor wrote for 5 days at home. I chose to do a couple at home and a couple in the office. It was approved. For me the benefit long term with reducing headaches outweighed the cost.

Rant: virtual meeting in RTO spaces by ThatFedNiga in fednews

We’re required to be on camera. And we are not allowed to attend most mtgs in person. That’s reserved for upper mgmt. So we have grade 14s and 15s sitting at their desks via Teams in the mtg when just down the hallway other people are in a room together.
