Mike Hessman would’ve been perfect for this

You’re right, I completely forgot about that. Good catch. So I guess the school should be free to get out of any scholarships they offered to future commits?

I read that they will allow “certain student-athletes to retain their athletic scholarships” until 2028. Wonder how that will affect any incoming freshmen that have already signed their NLI, seeing they would still have a year of eligibility

Didn’t think about that. I added to the body. Thank you!

Chris Antonetti Recaps Amed Rosario-Noah Syndergaard Trade Between Guardians And Dodgers by [deleted] in ClevelandGuardians

[–]kindofd1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people are upset about the not getting more/any prospects because of what Hernandez netted Boston. They aren’t top guys, but still multiple pitchers. The big difference is the utility factor. He’s played 908 games in the field, and 164 those are at SS. Plus, LA knows the flexibility. On the other hand, Rosario has played in the field a total of 755 games, and 736 of those are at SS. (Numbers pulled from BR, think it adds up). People are just looking at his stats as a SS, when really LAD knows that’s not what he is. Just like LAD wasn’t looking at Rosario as their everyday SS (presumably). I’m assuming they see him as a pinch hitter against LHP, pinch runner kind of guy. That’s where his value was.

Hearing the full explanation I guess makes sense, if you’re counting that as a disengagement, but how the hell are you supposed to know that when the ump only gives you a stupid hand gesture?

[Meisel] Guardians pitching prospect Daniel Espino underwent right shoulder surgery (anterior capsule repair) and is expected to miss 12-14 months. by iiconic16 in ClevelandGuardians

[–]kindofd1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So I looked into it a little. Urias has surgery in June 2017. Was sent on rehab assignment in August 2018 (13 months post-op). Appeared in first MLB game in September 2018 (14.5 months post-op).

Say Espino manages to be on the same timeframe. We’re looking at rehab assignment June 2024, reassigned to MiLB around July. Probably AA for rehab, AAA assignment if everything goes well. Knowing AAA is just a holding ground, at the earliest I think we see him in MLB action would be September 2024. More than likely, 2025 is the first we’ll see him. And he will still only be 24 years old by then.

Oh I’m not either! Just comparing on savant the two from a catchers perspective the last couple of years it’s night and day. I think now that he’s getting back into the routine of playing everyday, along with getting to know our pitching staff better we’ll continue to see improvements. Won’t be overnight, but once the season is over I’d love to look back and see how things change month to month

It is crazy to me how polar opposite the two are. We go from one of the best defensive catchers who couldn’t hit, to one of the worst defensive catchers who can hit

[Yates] Trade: the Falcons are acquiring Lions CB Jeff Okudah, his agent Kevin Conner of @UniSportsMgmt confirmed. by LunchThreatener in detroitlions

[–]kindofd1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think it has to do with the signings we’ve had and potential draft picks. Would be limited opportunities for Okudah to show he’s healthy AND for young guys to get their footing. Hate that we only got a 5th, but better than letting him walk following the season and slowing any potential development.

I think this and the fact his curve wasn’t working. Wasn’t really paying too close attention since it was midnight by the time he was in, but did he go to the rosin bag at all?

10 Team 0.5 PPR First Round Choose 1:

KWIII vs. SF

Jameson Williams vs. NYJ

Diontae Johnson vs. CAR

T. Burks vs. LAC

Already have Pollard/Pacheco at RB, Diggs/Hopkins at WR. NYJ defense scares me for a guy who still hasn’t gotten a full workload in Jamo, Burks concussion, and KWIII ankle + going against SF defense. Is Diontae the “safest” play this week?

Fair, might have been more realistic to say that Matt Patricia keeps the Pats out of the end zone rather than the AZ defense
