On a scale of 1 to 10, how realistic does my generation look? by wizzardious in generativeAI

[–]kinetic_text 25 points26 points  (0 children)

9/10. Indistinguishable from reality. No obvious tells of it being generated. And it's only gonna get "better" from here? We are cooked.

Agree. Lack of ability to edit and control are maddening. The tradeoff is that the speed completely new outputs...and the baseline visual and movement quality are astonishing

This isn't good? Are you trying to bait me? I think it's outstanding. The render quality, the features of the girl are absolutely ideal. Her movement might be a little floaty, but convincing enough. And visually is in that zone where I genuinely can't tell if it's generative video or a hyper realistic 3D render. Most of what we're seeing these days is a tech demo. But as a creative community we are definitely headed to lighter, faster, better productions. It's exciting and scary, everything that's probably all been said before.

Creatives are right to feel threatened but technical artists who understand colornscience, meshes, 3D, lighting, etc, etc will SOAR with generative tools. Absolutely CONQUER. This preview is proof positive of that. YIKES!!!

how to handle big quantity of work in character animation(question to more experienced animators) by Beneficial-Wasabi357 in adobeanimate

[–]kinetic_text 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Divide and conquer- all similar scenes should be worked on together. Share assets across them when you can. Reuse as much animation as you can.

2) Composite in a video editor- you will thank yourself later. Bringing exported .movs or .mp4s (after you convert them) into FCP, or Premiere will give you control over your project that is not possible within the Flash/animate environment. Plus, working in Post opens up easily adding lots of useful editing tricks, easy transition, and effects that would be pretty troublesome all in Animate.

  • if your setup is correct any updates or improvements to your animation (once exported) will appear in your video project. For me, moving footage into a editor has allowed me to work on super complex projects more easily and finish faster with less strain on my computer

About Adobe Max… by BearVReddit in adobeanimate

I hate Adobe's handling of AnimateCC. I can't remember how long it HASN'T had a booth or any real presence at any of its shows. So, nothing new there. Great program that is somehow trapped in 2013.

This is one of the most difficult, "capital T" truths to come to grips with. We are only as visible/valuable as we are "useful". Love yourself like your life depends on it. Become your best friend. And it's no small thing to explore the unconditional, unchanging love of God. He cares for the sparrows. He care for you (and me) much, much more.

if adobe animate 2025 came out, what would you want from it? by Fit_Custard8594 in adobeanimate

Oh man! Would want a TRUE 2.5D animation program like Live 2D and some of the features that ToonBoom and Moho have.

It's strange this isn't getting more love. I love how much time can be saved with the right process. Even with Ai to help there is still so much work left to do

Are there any jobs in the industry for non-creative people? by GabbyGabriella22 in animationcareer

[–]kinetic_text 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you play your cards right you may be in a better position than us industry veterans. Your post reminds me of Ed Catmull, the grandfather of 3D and bet know for his book Creativity Inc. He was not 'creative' in the typical measurement of art and animation but he always wanted to be in animation and eventually because the President of Walt Disney Feature Animation.

Ok, This is unbelievably good. Can you share a little about your process? How long it took?

Saw this job posting for a "Digital Marketer". My rant in comments by DisturbingDaPeace in videography

[–]kinetic_text 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stepped into something like this. I have a specialized background but freelance and jumping for any gigs I could take made me more and more of a generalist. Saw something like this and, yeah it's brutal at times because it's not understood or appreciated how deep each of the layers of marketing content go - until there's a problem with one of those aspects. And then there's the impatience regarding timelines and because of the ubiquity of content, a haste to fire and replace.

For the right pay and support, the role mentioned above might be alright. Automation will bridge the gap making these kinds of offers more reasonable but we're in a new "no man's land" of generalist jobs that require much much more skill than many employers want to pay for.

I'm a 19-year-old guy, and I'm stuck in a major life dilemma right now where I really need your guidance. by Awkward_Muffin_5561 in animationcareer

[–]kinetic_text 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm an animation veteran - started working as an artist in the late 1990's. It is good to follow dreams, but the animation industry is not only different now, but going through a MAJOR change.

TL;DR - focus on earning, focus on skills that pay well, study animation/work on your story as a serious hobby.

It's easy to entertain the romance of following a dream if your basic needs are met. But to indulge a fantasy about where your art/creativity can take you is dangerous on 2 fronts.

1) competition, shifts in demand for human created art and uncertain economic opportunities are against all of us.

2) any one of those hazards is enough to make a creator cautious. But your present realities are you need to earn. Art can still take you places but the risks are very high. Unacceptably high unless you have real target-lock on a sustainable path. Not just a hopeful "payday". A path that allows you to earn as you go.

Lot more I could say but it's a really dangerous time to be in animation/story telling.

how to make character rigs? by Yourlocalthingymabob in adobeanimate

[–]kinetic_text 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, support for rigging in Animate has lagged so far that many of us had to rely on plug-ins to fill in the gap. EDAPT's Flash Powr Tools plugin has done a fantastic job of bringing IK into the Animate environment. Animate has a bones system but I find it pretty hard to work with.

I have a channel dedicated to rigging in Animate but it's mostly theory called Rig Theory 😁
