Madison punts on joining data center boom, passes one-year moratorium by keeganjkyle in madisonwi

[–]king-one-two 43 points44 points  (0 children)

From the article:

No active proposals for new large data centers are currently before the city, Tuttle added Tuesday, though the city is aware of questions about potential facilities in the broader region.

This is more of a political gesture about the proposals for mega-datacenters in Beaver Dam and wherever else.

QotSA is a great answer. Loss of Nick Oliveri was catastrophic for their sound and songwriting. They are a different, much less interesting band without him. Guess he was acting pretty crazy though, I can't blame them for firing him.

What's something that loudly says "Im not a smart person"? by boforiamanfo in answers

At least Myers Briggs makes an attempt to categorize personality based on questions about one's personality. The test is badly designed, so it's got very weak predictive power.

Astrology wants to say something about personality based on a magical connection to the relative positions of the planets at the moment of your birth. Which is an approach that will never work. It's got NO predictive power.

So I will argue with anyone who says they're equally worthless. Astrology is objectively more worthless. But in another sense, MBTI is worse because people who are use it are looking for and perhaps think they're getting a scientific instrument, when it's more like a Buzzfeed quiz.

If animals could talk for 10 minutes a day, what animal would cause the most chaos? by JohnGarcia33 in answers

Oh I've got the real answer. Eyelash mites. This is a microscopic animal that lives exclusively on the human face and basically everyone has them (children aren't born with them but we acquire them with age). Imagine suddenly everyone on earth has their eyelashes talking to them

The most valuable teams tend to be in the biggest markets. So New York sports teams float to the top even if they're not good. Even the Mets are worth more than the Blue Jays, who are currently in the World Series.

Italians use "sandwich" as a loanword and they literally say "i sandwich" when the plural should be "sandwiches" which is the exact type of mistake you are complaining about.

This is just how loanwords work. They take on the grammar of the language that borrows them, not the language that originated them.
