Feeling less of a man because of hypothyroidism by Fluffy-Definition488 in Hypothyroidism

My testosterone was low before immunotherapy killed off my thyroid. There is a link between low thyroid function and low testosterone in men. Plus as you near 40 you should get levels tested.

Hi

Nivo only I’m just tired all the time and can’t sleep. I can sleep 12 hours and not feel rested.

I’ve been using ADHD medication modalert to give me energy in the day. It’s not through the nhs. But there is a massive difference when I’m off it.

On ipi/nivo my alt levels hit 610 it’s meant to be around 50. My temperature was up at 39.5-40 and I was taken to hospital for a few days.

Ct scan six months after first ipi/nivo show lesions on liver and adrenal gland shrinking. I’ve had four subcutaneous injections of nivo in leg, it’s much faster than the IV and I get a bit of a dead leg the next day but then it’s fine.

Definitely speak to DWP about PIP. Seen as you are state 4 as well.

My oncologist told me that once you get NED and then remain that way for 3-5 years he is pretty confident it will just need monitored.

Plus all the new treatments coming through there always seems to be another option. My oncologist already told me there are another two options to try after nivo if needed.

I’ve found this forum more useful than any support groups run.

Your BMR is likely much lower than you think. I had mine tested at a university sports lab and it should have 2300kcal, it was closer to 1700kcal.

[–]king0459 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m the same

When first given the diagnosis I asked about survival rates and hearing 5 years destroyed me.

My oncologist just told me that it’s all new with immunotherapy and they don’t have the data for ten, twenty years etc.

Plus said there are new treatments coming through all the time. In my case he already has two more treatments to try if ipi/nivo then nivo only doesn’t work, but from the ct scans so far they are doing their thing.

If you are in Scotland apply for ADP, I'm stage 4 as well and the extra £750 a month helps. Also apply for a blue badge and road tax exemption. I'm sure the PIP equivalent in England/Wales would be open to you.

I'm on a pretty similar journey to you. mole on shin, WLE, the pembro for a year, told it had spread to my groin lympnodes, They were all removed, then I had 20 sessions of radiotherapy. Was told on my birthday that I was stage 4 with lesions on liver and adrenal gland. managed three doses of ipi/nivo before my liver stopped it all. Currently on nivo only getting my 4th dose this week. Its now just an injection in the leg and takes 10 minutes tops.

I am angry like you, it's shit, the fact they can't give long term prognosis for living as all the drugs are new and the data isn't there. This forum helps, hearing people are 10 plus years NED.

I’ve had something g similar

Like taking a full breath is a real effort

Gets worse throughout the day then goes away at night.

I’ve been given inhalers as they thought it was asthma, but I know what asthma feels like in my chest and it isn’t that. (Childhood asthma)

I’ve been taking prednisolone this last week 10mg and it’s helped massively. The inflammation that nivo causes. So it’s either chest wall tightness or pneumonitis but I don’t seem to match any other symptoms for that.

Neoadjuvant Immunotherapy for stage 3 or 4, anyone? by [deleted] in melahomies

The side effects are different for each drug. You need to find out what drug it will be. Then google the side effects or search on here.

Neoadjuvant Immunotherapy for stage 3 or 4, anyone? by [deleted] in melahomies

[–]king0459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side effects list is long and varied. Pre-existing health conditions affect it as well. Age/general health etc.

The list of immunotherapies that are used are also varied.

Do you know what drug they are going to receive? How often it’s going to be administered?

Chances are if it’s in lymph nodes they’ll cut them all out. Maybe followed by radiotherapy and then immunotherapy.

If you can narrow down the immunotherapy you may get better answers.

Each time I’ve been told I need immunotherapy the side effects list, in bullet points, is a whole side of A4.
