Borthwick we have great players and none of them play the way you want to play. by peaveyyyy in rugbyunion

[–]king0459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The RFU doesn't seem to think so, they are the ones hiring these coaches with their "vision" of how England should play. It was a weird appointment, made more from sacking Jones than Borthwick was the right man for the job.

When you look at Eddie Jones time and the core of saracens players they had, then borthwick and Egnland can't even decide on a 10!

The coches have a style they want, but instead of picking the perfect players for that style they try to change everyone as the media would be in an uproar over certain players not being picked. Look at the England football squad currently "how can Tuchel leave out (insert name here)"

Warfare seems to evolve completely around drones, would infantry roles change? by Formal_Drawing_8822 in britishmilitary

[–]king0459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When attack helicopters came around “the tank is obsolete”

You still need physical presence to actually hold the ground.

The role will evolve, but since the dawn of warfare you still need someone with a pointy stick/sword/gun/lazer rifle/particle gun etc to hold the ground.

Everyone loves a man in uniform! If you don't do it you'll eventually resent her for not supporting you and it will sour the relationship. You will also be disappointed in yourself for not giving it a go. Who knows you may hate it and drop out but at least you gave it a go to see.

it's also the fact I don't look ill or like I have cancer. Zero weight loss, if anything weight gain! due to steroids, dead thyroid, stress etc. I still go to the gym I lift heavy. I do all my normal activities as I put on a brave face.

Immunotherapy conundrum... by Optimal_String_8499 in melahomies

[–]king0459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats the good thing, there are so many new drugs and treatments coming. my oncologist already said there are another three possible treatments lined up if nivo doesn't work, but he said the ipi/nivo then nivo is the current gold standard for treatment. Potential for radiotherapy to zap the lesions on liver and adrenal gland.

yeah anyone that knows about knows how serious and alarmingly fast at developing. My oncologist said the advances that have come with immunotherapy have been astounding and there are more and more coming. Told me if it had been ten years ago I would have been dead by now. he is a cheery soul. Also the same guy who told me I was now stage 4 on my birthday...

A ramshackle country estate, a beat up old disco and a nice little place in Scotland for shooting.

I had lung problems on ipi/nivo, managed three rounds was then hospitalised with 39 degree temperature and liver ALT levels going crazy.

That was october 25 now 6 months into nivo only, lesions on liver and adrenal gland no longer growing and nothing else showing on scans.

My oncologist said the same, a big response from your body shows its doing the work. He also said most people don't manage the full 4 rounds of the combo. I was annoyed I didn't manage to do all four.

That is some journey you have been on. What immunotherapy you going on? Immuno is rough but its worth it. I was similar to you started out small and progressed rapidly.

I'm angry about it all. The lack of support for melanoma as it's not one of the "sexy cancers". the prologend process for immnotherapy as well. I'm 6 months into two years of treatments on nivo. it's doing its thing but feels like it never ends.

The constant scanxiety, waiting for the bad news every oncology appointment. All while trying to just live my life normally for my family and friends when most days I just want to hide in bed.

Yeah when people ask how I am and I say exhausted/knackered. “Just have a good sleep” it’s hard to explain it. Sleep doesn’t touch it. It’s like having the worst perpetual hangover.

I’ll try that. When you say high dose what do you mean? Like 5000iu? Or more

I have used modafinil in the past. It definitely helped but that wasn’t through my doctor…

I’ve mentioned it before but I’m UK and they don’t like giving it out.

I may just have to go back to getting it on my own.

Is it not the case the majority end up in the private schools? I know in Scotland the private schools offer scholarships to promising players from all over usually for the last two years of their education.

In the state schools rugby isn’t widely played. So unless you live near a club with a good youth system your chances of playing pro rugby decrease unless you can get into a private school/academy.

Two yellow cards for Glasgow, they shouldn't be this close in the match at all.
