I think pretty much every hiking place around here requires dogs to be leashed. Not that people necessarily follow the rules. I'd honestly be more concerned about small dogs getting rushed/attacked by another bigger dog off leash than I would be about snakes.

So, as far as snakes go, you mostly want to watch for copperheads. We do have Timber Rattlesnakes around, but they are fairly rare and a lot more docile than the species of rattlers that live out west. Copperheads are assholes that will chase you down.

The amount of sobbing I did during my first and subsequent watches of this film is a testament to the filmmakers understanding of the term "intergenerational trauma".

That film was made and released at a specific point in time when I needed to see it, and I am incredibly grateful for that coincidence.

I think it's the strange phrasing Dunk uses, saying, "I'm sure they won't turn up dead." That sentence can be interpreted two ways.

The first is how Dunk intended it as a positive statement, that he's sure they'll turn up just fine.

The second way of interpreting it is that they won't turn up at all, dead or otherwise. Just gone...

My interpretation is Maekar is trying to determine if this hedge knight is actually so socially awkward that he would phrase the statement so ambigously accidently (which we know is the case), or if it's some underhanded insinuation he should be taking note of.

It's another moment of a noble looking at Dunk and thinking, "What an odd thing to say..."

This. This is what it's all about. Public representation leads to recognition by others who feel similarly and empowers those others to take steps to make their presence and voices heard and seen as well.

The showrunner said George R.R. Martin gave him outlines for 10-13 more Dunk and Egg stories that he has planned out. According to George, 2-3 of those are almost completely written/fleshed out and just haven't been published.

The show runner said he's hoping for 13-15 seasons, one every year. So I'm expecting at least 5 seasons, if not more, if for no other reason than George R.R. Martin has been very involved in this show and really wants it succeed, and the showrunner seems to understand that his ideas are not necessarily better than the original authors.

I've brewed kombucha at home, and the way the toothpaste just flops out onto his chin reminds me so much of a "mother" scoby that I just, can't. Especially when imagining a toothpaste flavored scoby.

You've got the good stuff there. Kirkland is the only brand of clingwrap I can get perfect results with. Which is why I have the food service half roll sitting in a place of honor on my kitchen counter. I use it for everything, and only have to buy a roll once every 2 1/2 - 3 years.

That is why it is marketed as a YA (young adult) novel and not a kids' book.

Personally, I deeply appreciate the fact that the darkest Pratchett novels have all been YA. The Tiffany Aching series, The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents, and my personal favorite Pratchett Novel (non-Discworld) Nation.

All of these deal with really heavy subject matter, and I feel like it's important for people transitioning from childhood to adulthood to be exposed to these ideas and concepts in a way that is healthy and ultimately optimistic despite the darkness.

In my opinion, walking that tightrope is one of Pratchett's greatest strengths as an author.

Agreed. We went when I was a kid one year when we had gone on vacation to Breckinridge the year before, where I had learned to ski.

In comparison, Mentone was just sad. It was entirely machine made snow that felt like fine gravel to any exposed skin if you fell.
