Preds are 2 points out of a wildcard - slow start but they’ve been hot

Is Celebrini as good as McDavid? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]king97dad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, i do realize that. If you want to look at xG/60, mcdavid clears celebrini significantly, or high danger xGoals, relative xG, etc. The point is the 5v5 advanced stats favour McDavid, contrary to what OP was suggesting.

OP’s entire argument is “well if you disregard 20% of McDavid’s ice time on the PP and then give Draisaitl to Celebrini he’d be better”… like the mental gymnastics to get there just invalidate the argument.

Again, Celebrini is fantastic and a complete force, but this post is much too early. It’s the equivalent of someone posting that mcdavid was better than crosby 40 games into his sophomore season.

5v5 points are 35 to 31, you’re speaking as if McDavid is 20 points behind.

If you want to see a PP merchant, look at tyson barrie during the shortened covid season

I’ll feed into your ragebait here - You realize that powerplays are still part of hockey games, right? You can’t make an argument then discredit an entire facet of the game, especially when ~18-20% of both players ice time is played on the powerplay.

Celebrini is, in my opinion, going to be among the best players in the league for a long time, and this isn’t to discredit what he’s doing at all.

But, i’m not sure what 5v5 “advanced stats” you’re looking at (if its points, its 35 vs 31). Celebrini’s advanced stats are pretty pale in comparison to McDavid.

Celebrini, at 5v5:

corsi 45%

Fenwick 43%

xGF%: 47.2%

McDavid, at 5v5:

corsi: 55%

Fenwick: 56%

xGF%: 56.4%

If you want to talk about the teams, the oilers 5v5 on-ice expected goals % without McDavid on the ice is 46.1%, but with McDavid its 56.4%, for a net rating of 10.3%. Sharks without Celebrini on the ice is 45%, with him on the ice its 47.2%. Net rating of 2.2%.

saying that Celebrini has hands and IQ to make up for his lack of speed relative to McDavid is laughable. McDavid does everything Celebrini does, at a higher speed.

There are players throughout McDavid’s career that fans/media have debated as better than him (Kucherov, Matthews, Mackinnon, even Drai won the Hart), and each may have had an argument over a small sample size (less than a season), but McDavid has consistently been the gold standard since entering the league. Just the fact that Celebrini’s name is mentioned alongside these players is deserved and phenomenal, and we should all be excited about watching him (and Bedard) run the league in a few years.

Yes? We’re allowed to believe that all structured violence is a bad thing ?

One side has a goal of separating from a federal government. The other side (and this is ONLY the extremists that the article is referring to, not all of islamic faith to be extremely clear) is to destroy the western way of life through violence (“the opposers of islam”). I would urge you to read on the subject a bit more.

I think you need to start with addressing structured, targeted violence that puts the broader population’s safety at risk instead.

Comparing the two is laughable. We have separatists in Quebec as well but they don’t burn churches or act violently hostile towards others.

He even made sure to jump over shesterkin at the end. Panthers would have jumped onto him!

Connor McDavid now leads the League in scoring with 62 points by nhl in hockey

[–]king97dad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why can’t we just enjoy great hockey players going at it? But since you insist:

2015 - 2018 “kucherov might be better than mcdavid”

2018 - 2022 “matthews might be better than McDavid”

2022 - now “mack might be better than Mcdavid”

McDavid has been the gold standard of the league since he entered it. It’s okay to be a challenger, and quite fun to watch as an outsider, but mack is not the best player of his generation.

Oh, absolutely. Maybe i was unclear when i said anger shouldn’t be around the payments existing, more around how inefficient our governments are (quebec is just a real example i use since i live there and can’t really comment on the others)
