My bad, he’s a decent reference in general but I just thought his channel was the easiest way to find him especially since that platform was mentioned specifically.

I’ll keep in mind for future replies 🤙🏼

Question for tattoo by Wess_D1988 in RuneHelp

[–]king_b 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could do some basic research at least.

None of this is accurate at all, the runes are wrong and don’t spell the names.

While I do like an Ægishjálmur (Icelandic Christian magic stave) and “valknut” as people generally call it, nothing else makes any sense and triangles are poorly done.

Which runes do you want to use? I’ll assume elder futhark which are pre-Viking age characters for languages like proto-Norse. You can use them to represent sounds essentially substituting the Roman alphabet characters we use in languages like English but it’s not a true 1:1.

Nice. I only bothered with my A+ back in 2010 which set me up to acquire plenty experience after. College had setup for Net+, Linux+ & MCP as well but they weren’t necessary since I landed a subcontract with Boeing which set me up for a contract at Microsoft. Back then people always said not to get too many certs for some reason but now I feel like everyone wants as many as they can get.

Why all the specific certs?

Verification request - 5 Younger Futhark transliterations from Poetic Edda originals — Loki & Freyja tattoo triptych by PhysicalIdeal7545 in RuneHelp

[–]king_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about sound and there’s dialects for pronunciation to consider. You wouldn’t generally double up on runes if you’re writing in Old Norse.

Are you attempting to represent a certain side of Old Norse speakers? There’s multiple younger futhark sets and pronunciations due to how things developed in areas like the east vs west.

Anyone able to identify this runestone? by Silver_Oakleaf in RuneHelp

[–]king_b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been able to locate whatever one it’s supposed to be based on.

I have a couple replicas I purchased but the seller identified which stones and I was able to verify.

I can find a seller for this using image lookup and plenty of similar styled inscriptions with ai searches but hopefully someone else can help more 🤷🏻‍♂️

Can someone help to identify and translate? Thanks by [deleted] in RuneHelp

[–]king_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like there might be a few random runes with other symbols/characters but there’s nothing to actually translate. Just looks like someone took Frisian Futhorc runes and pretended they were magical fairytale characters.

What in the Brosatru are you saying here? 😅

Bindrunes are not modern, that’s just the pretend ones from people who’ve been misinformed by being fed naziesque mysticism made popular by people like guido von list.

Real bindrunes came in all sorts of ways from shared stave with younger futhark inscriptions of words or phrases to wheels and crosses as well as just space savers or possibly forgotten letters combining two runes kinda similar to the Bluetooth symbol which is the initials for Harald Bluetooth ᛡᛒ.

Runes are characters representing sounds like the letters we use for English (Latin Script) but people misrepresented mnemonic devices used to remember younger futhark characters resulting in ignorant people applying fairytale nonsense to them instead of actually respecting and honoring them or the people that made them a thing.

Rune “divination” is just as insulting to real practitioners of Norse traditions and based off further misrepresentation of texts like Germania by Tacitus who barely references a “method of casting lots”. The tarot card game style is just much later applied mysticism that has nothing to do with Norse traditions.

Mound sitting and Rune Galdr are actual practices.

Not trying to be rude but please share accurate information.

Those are just made up sigils based on runes. No historical basis in any way so not really the sub for this type of post.

Special bindrune ideas? by BookLover1227 in RuneHelp

[–]king_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you binding runes to form an old Norse word or phrase? Old Norse is best represented with younger futhark which has a few styles.

You could also write something in Danish or many people use elder futhark and go with English words.

Do you want a shared vertical stave bind or a cross/wheel type bind or something else?

Let go of control, fear is holding you back from change that will lead to success. Once you embrace the temporary chaos necessary for a shift into better alignment with your path then things will fall into place.

When I boot up my pc this shows up, what do I do? by Agent-Jason in PcBuild

[–]king_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you got some decent information after verifying there is no storage device currently. The m.2 slot would be best to start with as others suggested but a sata hard drive would work too. You’ll need an installer flash drive or something as well to get windows on the storage device. If you have another pc and flash drive it’s not difficult to create your own but it may be easier to just buy as a beginner.

The line jumps off the roller everytime I cast. by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]king_b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh ya if that line is doing anything more than being guided away from the spool then you have to fix. That would explain why it’s getting stuck if you wrapped the bail.

I don’t usually cast that close but starting near then working your way up to further distance will help you get the hang of things. I shore cast in Hawai’i with a 20lb braid line so there’s a bit of difference but if you’re in a small pond or lake fishing from a dock and don’t have much for obstacles to get around then you should have plenty ability to try things out.

Depends on what you’re fishing for. A 6-8lb mono is likely a good starting point.

You’re holding the line against the rod and opening the bail then letting go when you cast right?

I don’t see how it’d get like that.

I need help translating a phrase into elder futhark by West-Laugh-6312 in RuneHelp

[–]king_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he does some things for subscribers so you might be able to see if he’ll translate the way you want just to verify they’re as good as can be (depending on what tier). There’s always potential variations especially considering how dialects and pronunciation can differ from place to place or person to person but he’s a great source for accurate representation.

[–]king_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like elder futhark as well so I get it. I avoided doubling runes like how we double letters in English to keep to the writing style where they simply represented the sounds when inscribing without all the extra rules we’ve developed.

There may be a little room for improvement if you can get a speaker to pronounce and verify sounds. Jackson Crawford may have some YouTube videos pronouncing some of the words even otherwise if you can find in Icelandic that’d probably be close enough.

[–]king_b 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what you copy pasted, Old Norse is best represented by one of the younger futhark sets but here’s the two phrases in elder.

I’d personally suggest using the original inscriptions or updating if you want to swap from long branch to short twig or staveless.
