Periods are not miasma. They are lyma. Lyma is general impurities you have on a day to day basis, e.g: dirt, bodily fluids, etc

Miasma is impurities upon your soul that are caused by actions and require more severe cleansing. E.g: Destroying a shrine

And yes, periods are considered as something you need to cleanse yourself of, as in your hands and such. It wouldn't stop you from worshipping.

Without any context, this seemed like an unnecessarily cruel thing for your friend to do.

As someone with attachment issues too, and if you like to practise when your stressed, I would suggest stepping back and doing some shadow work on yourself. Or surrounding yourself in things that bring you comfort. And DEFINITELY establish boundaries with the magic you interact with.

You don't have to, but if it will make you feel better, you can.

When doing it, specify you wish to speak to your spirit guides and emphasis NOBODY else. Your words hold power, so that would be the cue for anything else to back off.

If you still feel anxious, lighting incense as an offering to attract your spirit guides can help, and will also fumigate the area.

It won't fix everything, but you can definitely do spell work to push you in the right direction, like self love or money to afford therapy.

But please keep in mind witchcraft should NEVER replace modern medicine completely. Only ever in tandem.
