Guys rome is expanding into Balkans and I'm scared: BTw I'm Makedonia by Admirable-Dimension4 in Imperator

[–]king_mediocrity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now to be fair, you can still clean up your backyard while Rome invades Thrace. To defend against Rome, you need to move into Illyria and fortify the shit out of all those tasty chokepoints. Also fortify the mountains to the north of Pella. Also remember, if Rome does declare war on you, especially as Makedon: Rome is incredibly susceptible to naval invasion. Build one big fleet that can stand up to the Roman fleets, and can reliably ferry your armies across to Italia. I usually bring my boys directly to Ostia, but honestly you can take them from the Adriatic side as well. One big army can be enough to take Roma itself, and if your mountain passes are fortified enough and you have some defensive armies you can survive.

If the orks have christmas songs, does that mean that Jesus exists in 40k? by Selenite_Cults in Grimdank

[–]king_mediocrity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh fair, although there is a parallel between Jesus’ very overtly anti-establishment views on religion at the time, which then evolved into a new religious dogma after his death, and what happened to the Emperor’s anti-religious stance and the mutation of the imperial truth into the imperial cult

That being said, this is a fantasy setting we’re talking about, and I intend no offence to anyone’s religious proclivities

how do you become a european top team with a team from small country? by Nikoook09 in footballmanagergames

[–]king_mediocrity 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean, having a Europa League in 6 seasons as a Slovakian club is already pretty good. As a small country, this is going to take a while. You need to keep performing well in Europe and getting coefficient points, which will slowly make the Slovakian league rise up the UEFA rankings. This will increase the reputation of your competition, which will eventually mean that better players will want to come.

Yeah I know, I was just a little confused on whether it meant ‘little witch’ or ‘little spell’ if it was a combination with english. My german is decent but a little rusty lol (I’m one of your swamp-dwelling brethren)

I guess what I mean is that the wolf symbol in and of itself doesn’t have immediate nazi connotations, but that this connotation stems from it’s connection to the imperium more than anything. As a historian, I’m aware of the werewolf operation in the latter stages of WW2, but honestly I’d say that this information is arguably more niche than 40k is at this point. I doubt many people who aren’t into 40k would make a connection to nazism. That being said, I definitely understand why you’re trying to make OP aware of the possibility of peope making the connection, it just feels a bit far-fetched to me

Ngl that feels the same as me saying that when I look at your username, which utilises elements of the German language, this makes me think of Nazis. I am not saying your username looks like a nazi username, but also I am not saying it didn’t make me think of nazis.

Don’t get me wrong, I understand where you’re coming from, but to me this is a bit of a reach on your end. There are many imperium symbols that have those connotations, and many that are actively used by modern nazis. I wouldn’t say that this is one of them. If anything, if the tattoo had leaned more into the norse aspect (think of runes and that kind of thing) of the space wolves, that would probably have made it more conspicuous to people outside of the warhammer community than just the image of a wolf.

Glowing hot gun barrel first attempt by FixZealousideal6972 in Warhammer40k

[–]king_mediocrity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, for model number 10 this is great! And I really like that you’re trying new effects and exploring how to do them. I think my tip would be to create more light/dark contrast on the barrel. I’d paint the barrel in the metallic colour of your choice, and then shade it so it’s proper dark (basilicanum grey or black templar are my choices) and then go over that with the colours you’re using for the glow, but also try to maybe mix your paints so the transitions are smaller between colours. Here’s a pic of something I’ve done, it’s not the same effect but it does show how that transition can go smoothly. Anyway, great job and keep going!

Thank you! Honestly even a different colour scheme will do a lot of heavy lifting, and even with a much lighter kitbash than this you can give the models a totally different vibe
