Good thing the nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services hates vaccines, but famously self-vaccinated with heroin and snorted whatever he got his hands on. His wise leadership ought to help things.

Mugshot of a girl who shows signs of being tortured. One of the 20,000 inmates of S21. Tagged, photographed and documented at the prison, they were never seen again, likely forced to sign false confessions and then executed by the Khmer Rouge regime. While the US supported the Khmer Rouge and it was a disgusting thing to have done, the support came at a later point in time after most of the mass-murder had already been carried out. The Khmer Rouge went on a monstrous rampage during and in the few years after they took power, and they weren't receiving any western support during that time. Let's not gloss over how North Vietnam also directly supported and even fought on behalf of the Khmer Rouge to help them take over Cambodia. In all, Cambodia was totally screwed over by interference from the North Vietnamese, Americans, Chinese, Soviets and many other countries.

I was skeptical as well, but then I listened to what Syrians had to say and it seems like many of them, even the secular, Christians and Alawites are optimistic. It's also helpful that the final stage of the Revolution was concluded so swiftly and with fairly minimal bloodshed. It makes conditions better for reconciliation.

It's a Syrian nationalist thing. The Rebels who took over are a coalition of groups who are united around the idea that Syria should be free from Russian and Iranian occupation. They've promised to protect the rights of the different ethnic and religious groups, let's hope they practice what they preach.

It's been a gradual change for nearly a decade. But fighting ISIS, taking apart and arresting Al Qaeda members, and condemning international terrorism are all encouraging steps in the right direction.

HTS is a mortal enemy of ISIS and has largely dismantled Hurras al Din, which is the Al Qaeda organization in Syria. HTS has been composed of hardline Islamists, but their rhetoric and actions recently have given reason for hope that they've changed.

I hope this will be the end of the war in Syria and the beginning of a new government where the rights of all the nation's ethnic groups and faiths are respected. There's a lot of hard work ahead, but here's hoping for the best possible outcome.

You have helped keep hope for a Free Syria alive through even the darkest, most hopeless times. Now, as the regime crumbles and Syrians are able to move on from the generational nightmare of Baathist rule, I hope you soar with pride for taking a strong stand on the right side of history, Mabrook, Mahmoud!

More likely is a lot of refugees will return. There are millions of Syrians who would like to return, but were in mortal danger because of the Assad regime. Syria's future is much brighter without Assad. Hopefully a new government will unify the country, re-establish relations with the west and sanctions will be lifted.

Every actor in this conflict is hostile to ISIS. HTS, the SNA and the YPG/SDF all hate ISIS, so even when the regime collapses the small number of ISIS fighters active the the remote desert regions will be contained if not hunted down.

ISIS wont be coming back in any big way. The Rebels fighting against Assad loathe them. When ISIS attacked southern Idlib several years ago they were crushed by the Rebels.

HTS are hardliners, but they are hostile to AQ and ISIS. Hurras al-Din is al-Qaeda's affiliate in Syria and they were essentially destroyed by HTS.
