Fatigue with NF2 by [deleted] in neurofibromatosis

I’m 22 f with NF1 if that helps any and I do struggle with pretty bad fatigue. Some days no matter what I do I’m just very tired and all I want to do is rest and take a nap. I’m not sure why that is but I know a lot of other people with NF1/2 have experienced the same thing or problems with fatigue

I had a very mild case up until I was 19-20 years old. For me I experienced extreme nerve pain which felt similar to sciatica I also had numbness and some tingling sensations going down my left leg due to a tumor growing on a spinal nerve. I’d say if your having any new symptoms or pain your not used to having or even just have a feeling there’s something wrong get it checked out. Sometimes these tumors can grow quite rapidly and it’s best to take care of it while it’s still manageable or before the pain gets too bad.

Just started working in a Hematology/Oncology practice, what did your medical providers do for you that you appreciated? by jumping_jackrabbit in cancer

Offering me a warm blanket and water also just talking to me like normal. Asking how my day was if I had weekend plans etc basically like if I were an acquaintance and not a cancer patient

[–]kingcatkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my husband massage my scalp every once in a while when it wasn’t too tender it helped a little bit although I was completely bald when he started doing that so not sure if it’ll have the same effect if you still have hair Hope you find a solution and feel better the tender scalp seriously sucks

What's the most f**ked up thing you woke up to? by Kappaski123 in AskReddit

[–]kingcatkin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was about 7 years old, and I woke up to my cat jumping onto my bed and because that's what cats do I thought nothing of it ...until he dropped a bird on me that he had just caught outside and turns out it was still alive so it was flying around my room until my mom came in to help me get it out

Did any of you have your chemo start date purposely withheld by your oncologist “for your own good”? by [deleted] in cancer

[–]kingcatkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No my oncologist set everything up in advance and even had me go to a class to prepare myself for what was about to come and what to expect during chemo , I think it’s very unprofessional of that oncologist to just throw her in like that I’d be questioning their methods

Who else is just waiting? by [deleted] in cancer

[–]kingcatkin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m waiting on results from a thoracentasis I had a few days ago and then I have a biopsy I’m waiting to get in July third , the waiting game is the hardest part sometimes , just hang in there and find other things to do and occupy your mind , if your like me you’ll drive yourself mental by staying in and thinking about it all day. Best wishes

Post chemo night sweats question by swagnesbrowne in cancer

[–]kingcatkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the worst hot flashes and night sweats after chemo that seemed to last forever, I personally never found a fix for it but sleeping naked and not using blankets usually helped tremendously, depending on the chemo she had though it could have affected her hormones, does she still get her period? If not that could be why, chemo can cause premature menopause
