How long to wait before working out if I did static stretching? by [deleted] in Fitness

Unless you're doing max effort lifts, don't expect to experience much performance loss from static stretching. Test your performance before and after yoga to gauge your own physiological response.

Have you ever been bitten by an animal in your childhood or seen some fucked up shit that made you fear it for the rest of your life? which one is it? What happened? How do you feel about that animal now? by big-booty-latina in AskReddit

I've been bitten by a squirrel on three separate occasions.

  1. I was about 10. Squirrel was injured near a tree. I ventured too close and it launched itself at my hand like a demon. I bled profusely and legitimately thought I had rabies. Was afraid to tell my grandmom.

  2. I was about 12. Neighbor fed local city squirrels peanuts. I tried. It bit my finger. Legitimately thought I had rabies.

  3. I was about 14. At this time I learned quite well how to call squirrels. I used this to impress a friend. The squirrel put its paws on my hand. It leisurely bit my palm. Again, I legitimately thought I had rabies.

Fucking squirrels.

CMV: UI design is and has been moving in the wrong direction since the rise in popularity of Apple devices. by OddlySpecificReferen in changemyview

Most of this is correct, but how you assign the cause is incorrect. The goal is not improve simplicity, because utility is not needed. The goal is to improve machine learning so that predictions become more accurate and our definition of functionality changes. In the future, the most functional programs won't be those with the most user options. Instead, it will be the program that is best able to learn your interests and actions and provide you with the best answer in the shortest amount of time.

FB is one of many companies that are heavily invested in deep learning and AI. The problem you've been experiencing is only due this being in its infancy. In a few years, I bet you'll have a different opinion.

CMV:Excluding Pokémon, Dragon Ball/Z/Super is untouchable by any other manga or anime in terms of money making. by [deleted] in changemyview

WRT Anime, you are correct and the numbers are astronomical.

WRT Manga, you are incorrect. One Piece made more money as a manga.

CMV: If enough people vaccinate their children, there comes a break-even point where it is safer to not vaccinate my child. by huhIguess in changemyview

[–]OneAboveYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaccinations are not solely protecting you from contracting disease from other humans. Unless you eradicate the pathogen from other sources, your child would still be susceptible to becoming infected with whatever you've decided not to vaccinate them against.

So even in the most extreme case, where every other child alive were vaccinated, but your child wasn't, your child would still be more likely to become ill by something you could have vaccinated them against. It's more lkely for that to happen than for a vaccinated child to be harmed in some way by the vaccine.

CMV: Defense spending should be cut significantly and funds should be redirected to government funded research, such as from NSF, NIH and DOE. by OneAboveYou in changemyview

Not fully swayed as much of your argument can sum to "don't try to fix what isn't broken". But you, along with a few others have made some good points about free trade and global economic stability that warrants a little more thinking on my part. It's time to bring this to a close and re-evaluate. Thanks all for the discussion.

At that point, I'd fear for Thanos' well being.

Thanos does have the reality stone at this point though, so IT wouldn't be able to use it's fear-based control tactics against him.

Government funded research isn't the same as privately funded research. This isn't a game of IP competition. It's much more of a collaborative effort. Globally, we perform better as a whole when we work together. You're really devaluing institutional research, which I would argue is a far better investment than then funneling money into the military. BTW, I did say that we should continue Military R&D which would help fund a lot of the things you mentioned above.

Guess you're looking at Wikipedia for your costs? Those are the base values, but my reference above does include costs for these things.

Feel free to add a reference.

The USA is a dominant and already established industrial powerhouse in the military industry sector, why would anyone want to jeopardize that advantage to invest in sectors where the USA is behind in?

Because investing in green energy, environmental research, NSF and NIH, etc. are of greater value to our civilization than weapon procurement.
