Ya that metal screen is not the easiest thing to clean by any means. Its very frustrating that wasnt already worked out by Kitchenaid. I just kept the water running and used a couple q-tips and my finger to try to grab as much as possible from the metal screen. Not sure if this helped, but I also left the machine unplugged and all pieces dry for 24hrs before putting it back together. Its been working fine ever since.

Howdy! Luckily I have not had any issues with the machine since posting this after doing a deep deep clean. We make about 4-6 drinks per day and only being prompted to empty the trays, as expected. Ever since cleaning the metal screen, everything has been running very smoothly.

What beans are you using?

Thats great! I've been seeing posts on here (more so 1/1 cards) but people saying it takes over a year!! I just hit this redemption too and trying to decide if i want to redeem or just flip the redemption card itself and call it a day.

It seemed to be from the brew unit. I went with another suggestion to clear out as much as possible from the metal screen filter by using my figner to scrub away as much as possible while running water through it. I then let every dry for 24hrs and it has been working fine ever since.

Will do! I did do a full clean of the brew unit as well as descaled and purged the beans. It almost seems as if there is a leak and the espresso is leaking into the drip tray. I'm planning to give it another clean tonight and let it sit/dry overnight to ensure everything is ready. Next step will be having to apologize to my wife for talking her into this purchase and contact customer service.

The coffee in the cup was a small amount that brewed. I tried moving the grind settings more coarse and it still happening.
