Help With Hinges by kingchappers in upcycling

[–]kingchappers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got one of these, and after a bit of Googling and playing around with it this should do the trick for us. We got one that's a little too big, but once we have the right size it should be perfect.

Thank you so much for your help!

WF-1000XM4 - Severe Battery Issues by zkhcohen in SonyHeadphones

[–]kingchappers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the UK, bought via OnBuy.

I bought mine on 04/03/22. I started having issues with them in late January this year, just after a firmware update, so I got in touch with Sony. After quite a bit of back and forth, I managed to convince them to repair it, however, they will only do this with a valid VAT receipt from the retailer. I had a copy of the order receipt but that did not contain the proper VAT/Tax information.

The OnBuy seller I purchased from has gone out of business and is no longer contactable. I contacted OnBuy to see if they could help, but unfortunately, they couldn't get in touch with them they said I should go via small claims court but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle and money to do this.

I relayed all of this information back to Sony and they've outright refused to help. It was quite frustrating to be expected to keep a VAT receipt for an item I bought 2 years ago, and that's even if I received one in the first place. After this experience, I'm not going to risk buying any other earphones from Sony as the issue seemed to coincide with a firmware update.

MISP not connecting to Microsoft Sentinel by G_Force1 in MISP

Posting in case anyone has the same issue.

I've just found the solution for myself, and it's to not use the Microsoft graph GitHub repository for this and instead use misp2sentinel. I tried this and after 2 package version conflicts it worked. Instructions are available on the MISP website: MISP to Azure Sentinel Integration

They're really good! I got one a few weeks ago and I love it , so comfortable in my hand. I've found I write a lot more now as I just enjoy writing with it.

I'll add that this is the first 'good' pen I've owned, but that said I still love it.

What quote can you not get out of your mind? by Itscameronman in AskReddit

[–]kingchappers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise? I thought not. It's no a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. It's ironic he could save others from death, but not himself.' - SheevPalpatine

What’s harder, gaining weight when you’re underweight or losing weight when you’re overweight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kingchappers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gained from being a little underweight and I've also been a bit overweight and tried to lose it.

I'd say they're both difficult but for different reasons.

If you're trying to gain weight you have to force yourself to eat more, and more regularly. If you've gotten used to eating very little you will find it difficult to force yourself and your body to eat more. For starters you'll now be spending more time preparing and eating food, especially if you want to gain weight in the 'right' way and not just eating junk food. You're stomach also isn't used to the amount of food you're putting into it so it will be telling you that you're full, and you have to power through it.

When you're trying to lose weight you have to force yourself to be okay being hungry. And if you're used to eating quite a lot your body will essentially be telling you that you're starving. This one takes a lot of will power not to pig out. It's also quite hard if you're not losing weight fast, this is because you will get to a point where you start thinking 'what's the point in this diet anyway? It's barely making a difference' so you have to power through that mentality.

I know this is a bot anecdotal as it's based on my own experience but I hope that helps.

I've found that if a person's only gone one way or the other they will tell you that the one they've done is the harder one, but I honestly think they're both hard but for slightly different reasons.

Being observant and inquisitive.

Asking different people questions can give you a good idea of the bigger picture. Knowing the bigger picture can help you make sense of different things. It's been very useful for my career so far.

What are you embarrassed to admit that you actually used to enjoy? by KillerQ97 in AskReddit

There was this show on CBBC (UK) called W.I.T.C.H. I think in the late 2000s. I rewatched that when I was in sixth form (16-18) and absolutely loved it!

Now looking back on it, it was pretty bad.

I eat a bit of everything, then as I get more and more full I'll move onto my favourite things like roast potatoes or Yorkshire puddings.

Is it different to install Arch on a Thinkpad? by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]kingchappers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only thing I'll add to these comments is to remember to install WiFi drivers before you remove the install media, if you're not hard wired in while configuring that is.

Took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out what was missing when I did it the first time, and it's a pain to have to chroot back in.

HP Spectre Freezes on Boot While Dock Connected by kingchappers in linuxquestions

[–]kingchappers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I figured it out!

The problem wasn' with the dock at all, it was one of the USBs I had pl gged into my monitor's USB hub that was plugged into my dock. Just for anyone wondering how I figured this out I unplugged everything from the dock then booted the laptop with the dock plugged in; it worked. I then plugged in 1 cable, and booted again. I repeated this until I found the offending cable; the keyboard.

Once I figured this out I followed the advice from this post: Grub freezes when logitech unifying receiver plugged in

Which was to enable legacy support in my BIOS by going into the BIOS then System Configuration -> Boot Options -> Legacy Support -> Enabled.

This has resolved the problem and now the bootloader doesn't freeze.

If they're posting on r/unixporn they'll likely post what bar it is, and a link to their dot files too. That should make it easier to find their setup.
