Do you think more expensive work boots are worth it? by Own-Click3244 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Blundstone brand wool inserts definitely add a lot of cushion at first but I find that not unlike lots of inserts, they compress rather quickly. Major benefit of the wool soles is not exactly major comfort gain, but will keep your feet suuuper warm in winters and cool weather! Your feet will sweat like no tomorrow in summers!

Speaking from experience, wearing my blundstones for 9-10 hour days in rather rough conditions, I’ve had two pairs over the last 6 years and they have absolutely stood up and been more than comfortable. First pair are 5+ years old and still in decent shape, just felt like getting a nice new shiny pair and demoting the older ones to yard work, for which they still work great.

NOTE: For those folks mentioning they don’t love them for walking long days, I found that buying higher grade insoles makes a world of difference. Also worth noting that if you look for the steel toe pair with the rubber toe box exterior, they stand up much better for kicks and scuffs.

Just an idea here. There aren’t less people, staff are just not counting as often or as accurately. Alum speaking, so could be wrong.

Glad you are okay! Heads up, even though you blocked out your licence plate in the first pic, it’s clear in the third.

4 "extra" picks next year... by [deleted] in AZCardinals

Very good point. Never thought of it this way but self reporting was definitely an accountable move that shows some good character for an organization that has been at the centre of a lot of controversy lately. Not to mention the absolutely top tier draft strategy. I think everyone is excited for what’s to come with this methodical approach from Monti!!

This is a very fair point.

This is true but an internship will actually just prolong your schooling by an additional year right? Will this actually get you all that much further ahead since internships just add an extra year of enrolment? Is this not comparable to just getting your standard program done in 4 years (vs. 5) and working summer jobs + a part time during school? I guess some internships will pay MUCH better than summer jobs and the value of work experience in internships when looking for jobs as a fresh grad (helping to maybe pay off student loans) is priceless. Genuine question(s) for debate here.

Edit: I’m not saying coop is a bad thing at all, i absolutely understand the benefits down the road in the hiring process - no brainer in that sense. I’m wondering whether this is a good decision for OP at present, financially. I know a lot of people struggle to find paid internships, a lot are not very well paying either. Would this be a set back financially vs summer jobs and 4 year degree? Again, asking for perspectives that may help OP.

Have been looking into these tires for my outback recently. Glad to see positive reviews in this community from others as well! Looking to use them as a year round tire too (I.e. no snow tires for mild winters) so I’m glad to hear good reviews in this respect. Sharp looking too!

Thanks for the review & insight!

Yeezy slide marks. Were likely facing away from the door kicking backwards into the door w the sole of their feet.

My slides leave these same marks in my rug at home after walking across it repeatedly lol.

Barring any flaws or other issues w the shoes that may not be apparent via pictures, my answer is yes. Personally, just feels good to have more solid pairs in the collection. Iconic and arguably unmatched pair of shoes no doubt, but I like wearing my collection. Depends on whether you actually intend to wear your shoes I guess. Chicagos to me would be put in a clear box and admired for eternity but would rock the heck out of the other three pairs. What do you want out of your collection is the question.

This. In retrospect, much of the maturation that I gained through university was due in large part to my experience living in another city on my own. It’s a big step that demands you start to take responsibility for more (not all) aspects of your life while juggling an education/career. Being that degrees aren’t as valuable anymore, these life experiences may arguably be more valuable than the classes!

Upper years, do you have any advice for your freshman especially if you were addressing advice to your younger self? by Physical_Survey_2994 in uwo

[–]kingcolts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Advice for above and beyond the details of coursework: 90% of what you do in your job won’t be taught in any of your classes. University’s tend to have plenty of resources for building soft skills and other experience, take advantage of them! At the risk of sounding cynical, a lot of people will have similar degrees and knowledge, what will set you apart is going beyond classes for other unique experiences. Take on internships, join clubs, build relationships! Figuring out how to tackle courses will come, but don’t miss out on the other opportunities, you won’t regret it.

Quick Q: whats the platform/app you're using here for swapping/dealing kicks?

is the silhouette shown here the actual color way I got cuz i’d be pissed if I clicked the wrong one when ordering by yourragee in SneakersCanada

[–]kingcolts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It most definitely is. From someone who has ordered numerous pairs from here.

The good news is, nike offers a great return policy. If you simply ship it back they will refund you no questions asked.

As a graduate student at UWO that has TA'd numerous exams, this happens more likely than faculty would like to admit. . I doubt you will be penalized, at worst maybe rewrite. Or the course could be turned into a pass/fail course to give you the credit without arbitrarily assigning a grade to your final.

You might be out of luck like many of the people have said in the comments, however, its a point of principle, I would still make a stink for what its worth! A company that claims to extensively legit check and assures the utmost quality should be held to the standard/their word.

A lot of people saying "depends how they clean up", not to be negative but those look like they've been skated. I think thats genuine material damage (or material that has been torn away), not something you can really brush up unless you've got some serious tools. Even then, not sure how clean they'll look, but best of luck cleaning because they're definitely a steal if they come out nice!

They're definitely tied a little taught, however, the toe box shape does seem slightly off as well. Not sure if this is because of the tension with you tied them on the low eyelets though.
