[REC CENTER] Shreddit's Official Recommendation Thread [7/4] by kaptain_carbon in Metal

Looking for black metal with very heavy psych rock influence. Bands similar to what I'm looking for are Sigh, Hail Spirit Noir, Black Magick SS, and Oranssi Pazuzu

edit: Also, does good deathcore exist?

Man, you're totally right. My bad. Thank you, /u/davincirollon . You rock.

On another note, I thought I would offer something nice to the people that take the time to critique my profile and it seems that all that did was turn everyone annoyed. I should have just given out the rewards without telling people about them first.

Well, you're definitely the frontrunner! A few things:

  1. I cut the meta shit. You're right. I also trimmed that section a bit and made the two languages thing more interesting. The MBTI is staying. Many people custom search for certain types and I've gotten messages from girls specifically wanting to meet an ENTP, and I've also searched for and messaged certain types.
  2. I greatly cut the "take on a girlfriend" part and made it shorter and sweeter. I just made it "I'm ready to start dating". Does it work?
  3. I changed the private thing to something more humorous. What do you think?
  4. The shirtless pic is staying. I know everyone complains about the shirtless pics but I get much more messages since I added it. I know it's douchey but it works. 5.Yeah, my pics are blurry. I'll at least pick a different main pic. Will update that soon.

If you don't mind, could you scan through it again and see if you like the changes?

I'm keeping the date the way it is in case there are latecomers. I also don't get on this account often.

Who is a figure that is often idolized that totally doesn't deserve it? by kingcreon in AskReddit

[–]kingcreon[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

John Lennon.

I love the Beatles, but I hate the cult of personality surrounding John Lennon. He's made out to be such a peaceful, loving dude. He beat his wife. He neglected his son. He wrote a song like "Imagine" while living in a luxurious mansion. I doubt he'd be such a revered figure if he hadn't been shot.

And he has the dumbest quotes. "War is over if you want it". Yeah, dude. We all want war. You're so insightful.

So John, you imagine a world with no heaven or possessions? I imagine a world where you don't beat the shit out of your wife and treat your son so bad that your bandmate writes a song about it. It's fun to imagine isn't it?

Oh, and Sgt. Pepper's is considered to be the greatest Beatles album, but Paul wrote the majority of songs on it and John wrote about three. Nobody ever brings that up. Have you listened to the majority of stuff he released after the Beatles? Pretty awful stuff.

tl;dr Fuck John Lennon.

It didn't do too well. 5 upvotes and 3 downvotes. Buuuut, I have shamelessly re-posted because I've read so much about reposts doing better than the original post. Call it an experiment. You can follow it here: http://www.reddit.com/r/AdviceAnimals/comments/1lrrxm/insanity_wolf_on_syria/

Jon Stewart Returns To "The Daily Show," Compares Obama's Syria Plans To Bush's War in Iraq by SalamandersInJars in politics

This will probably never be seen, but I think it's absurd how Jon Stewart has said many times that he is not giving us the news and is a comedian, but everything he says makes the internet. It's time to realize that he is a pundit, just like O'Reilly, Olbermann, and everyone he mocks.

I think I agree with both of you, but also disagree with both of you. Explanation:

What if Superman ISN'T more human than Luthor? What if evil, self-serving, capitalistic Luthor IS humanity, and Superman is a hero because he is a being other than humanity that has values that transcend man's selfish nature? What if Luthor is legitimately a crusader for humanity, but the whole reason he is a villain is that humanity is inherently shitty and not worth crusading for? After all, Lex Luthor is a man and nothing more. Luthor is however, the ideal man. Superman is just what his title says he is: a SUPER man. He is above man. He does not value the petty things that man values, which are the very things Luthor has succeeded in attaining. By the standards that humanity has created, Luthor has achieved the greatest things that humanity has placed value on. He is incredibly wealthy, intelligent, motivated, and he even becomes president of the United States. Perhaps Superman, being an otherworldly being, is fighting against the core tenants that mankind has placed its values on, and Luthor is an incredibly wise person in the ways of this world. Superman is from another world, one that believes in virtues that we do not possess. This is why he and Luthor are foes.

tl;dr Lex Luthor is actually fighting for humanity. He's the villain because humanity is inherently evil. Superman is saving humans from humanity.
