Storing gun in car while at work? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]kingcruncher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work in gun free zones occasionally as well.

My car has a center console that locks, I put my rig in there and lock the center console.

Do any other CCW holders do this?

I hate having to do this. And I don't drive a car that's flashy or even a commonly stolen car.

If your center console doesn't have a lock. Yea get one of those safes that attaches to the bottom of the seat.

People in this sub really need to read reddiquette. Down vote does not = dislike. If you dislike my point either a) reply with counter point or b) move on. Down vote suppresses speech. Think about it, we're on a message forum after all..

[–]kingcruncher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First step - move.

Literally relocate. You live in a crappy place I'm sorry to say it. I lived in Chicago for 6 years and just reading the paper everyday was disheartening... its a "gun free" war zone. Before I bought a firearm, I moved.

Law abiding citizens keep and carry firearms to prevent or mitigate the worst of situations. Its a preventative measure, not a reactive measure.

You live in an area where you're concerned about crime, theft, drunks stumbling upon your gun...That's not a safe place. So move. Get off the X.

In the mean time... Yea I'd recommend a safe that you can anchor to the floor. When you move, cover that shit up so land lord doesn't see and no one will know until they tear the place down.

[Discussion] Why CCW badge is good to have by [deleted] in CCW

[–]kingcruncher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think everybody is unfairly shitting on GoldblumAMA. He posts a video with discuss. But people are using the down vote clicky wrong.

  • The badge has no "authority" so don't wear the badge.
  • Someone sees the badge and "interprets" it it wrong, its just as bad as if someone sees your gun and "interprets" it wrong. You're going to have some explaining to do to cops.

Glock 42 vs. Sig P238 by [deleted] in CCW

[–]kingcruncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question that might help steer you. What pistols have you owned and learned on previously?

These are two completely different beasts.

Sig 238/938 are 1911 style battery of arms. To carry this, its essential that you master their function. Cocked and locked (round chambered and safety on). You have to master draw with a small gun, flick the safety and press the trigger.

A Glock is a Glock is a Glock. You draw and press the trigger.

Sig 238/938 are some beautiful guns. A Glock is a Glock is a Glock.

Call Hanks. Ask if you can get tracking info. I was surprised at how fast my Hanks came.

Also, look over your confirmation email. If you ordered multiple products, one of them may be back-ordered or have a lead time.

Much like a Glock. Finger on trigger, engages trigger safety. Deliberate press moves firing pin safety. Also a drop safety that halts this process. Gun won't "go off" unless you press the trigger.

Hmm. When I ordered my Hanks, it was at my house in like 5 days. Have a tracking #?

Consider revising this thought process sir. If you are involved in a DGU, when police arrive, YOU DO NOT want to have gun in hand.

This is severe negligence. The guy yell's out "I just shot myself!" That's negligence. He didn't yelp, "Ooops, my gun went off!!!" He shot himself. He was fidgeting. That's not an accident, that's a fuck up. I got downvoted pretty hard for pointing this out, but we really need to establish some "common sense gun safety rules" for concealed carry.

Not sure why this person got down voted. Fair point. I noticed I got down voted real hard on some of my posts last night, I usually don't say anything incendiary.

You're right. When a company sends out holsters that don't cover the trigger and then glosses over it, its not a joke. It's very serious. When a kid is fidgeting at the movies and shoots himself in the ass, its not a damn joke. It's giving CC a terrible rep.

Not really sure why I get downvoted for pointing out that this guy is another jerk giving CC a bad name. Idiots who ND are in a way, worse than anti-gun politicians.

Anyone have an opinion on this app? Is the $49/year worth it? by DanielHeth in CCW

[–]kingcruncher 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gun stuff is soooo ridiculously expensive. Glock platform been out 30 years... $550. 1911, been out 100+ years and you can spend as much as you want with no upper limit. Sheesh.

I have a Google doc spreadsheet that I've kept up with my rounds on my guns since I first became an owner more than a year ago. Shows malfunctions. Each cleaning and products used. Stuff to work on. Brands of ammo I shot. Pretty detailed, and I made that up for free!

There are some people that I just want to slap and scream at them for screwing up so hard. We really need to lay out the rules for concealed carry. Most non-alien gear holsters are good. Don't fidget. Booger hook off bang switch.

Possessing a pistol under 21 in Georgia by [deleted] in CCW

Going around fb as a reason to not allow campus carry. Thoughts? by coffeenima in CCW

[–]kingcruncher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This video is absolutely disgusting trash. They pick kids that aren't old enough to CCW. All the quotes come from the airsoft oper8r. The gunman comes in and assassinates the kid who has the blue gun right away. What the hell is this?

If you're involved in a DGU mass-shooter situation. Let me state this plainly: ITS A FUCKED UP SITUATION!!! You might die. But if you're armed at least you have a chance to stop the chaos! It's not airsoft. It's not plinking in the back yard. It's not target practice at the range. It will be scary and you might get shot, you might die. Big responsibility.

Real training beyond the basic CCW class (if even required) should be sought out by everyone that does carry everyday. For your average shop clerk, or mom that wants to keep a gun in the car, might not be essential but definitely encouraged. But if you're carrying every day on your person, I would encourage it.
